After weeks of journeying to California and facing all the troubles along the way, the camp appears like a godsend. The people at the camp are welcoming and there are facilities like showers and wash basins. The camp even has the luxury of regular dances! But all of this just sound too good to last. I'm wary to read on.
I like the government camp, too. I like how they are able to police themselves. It just goes to show that these "Okies" aren't all that bad! I can't remember which chapter it was in, but the Californians were saying they would never act like the migrants... Going without showers, sleeping on the side of the road or in Hooverville, behaving badly... If given a chance, the migrants are taking care of themselves just fine. :)But, Michelle, I think you are right. It does sound too good to last.

Pretty excited though that there are under 200 pages to go. I think I'm gonna stay up and see if I can finish "her" tonight. :)
