"Hey don't say things like that. It would hurt and it would get in our way but that is one thing that the guards want." Aelin said wiping her face of emotion sounding dead. "To be fair 88 did say attached so for the two of us it's not that fair a leap." She said and Rowan nodded in agreement.

"Your right I should have used better wording but you two are smart enough to know things like that." Levi scowled.

'Sometimes I forget that words and sentences that would make sense to 88 and I would confuse you two. I'm sorry Snow, Huntsman.' Aelic said contritely, internally vowing to teach the twins more so they are not taken advantage of once they got outside. Seeing that now was as good a time as any, he asked a question he had been pondering these past few days. 'What's the point of those costumes anyway?'

"Easy of movement for me. Because it is tight but loose at the same time it is easy for me to move in it and hang from it." Levi shrugged

"There was nothing wrong with our old costumes but since there was a team fight and 88 and I are fighting together they wanted us dressed the same." Aelin shrugged.

"That makes sense and since you and I are more acrobatic than Huntsman so they made two new costumes for you two." Levi mused

'I see.' Aelic said, understanding that the costume was necessary both for manoeuvrability and identification. The guards probably thought it funny to, in their perverse way. 'What were the old costumes like? And who in the guards would sow besides Petra?!' Aelic asked slightly incredulously, trying to imagine the big tough guards with a needle and thread was laughable.

"Our leather combat suits snake. You saw us train in them." Rowan said looking confused. "Did you drink your own venom?"

"No brother. Snake venom is harmless when swallowed unless you have cuts in your mouth." Aelin said shaking Rowans shoulder lightly.

"My venom both of them are the same." Levi said and the twins nodded.

Aelic frowned for a bit before remembering and blushing embarrassedly. 'Sorry, I mustn't be as awake as I thought I was.' He said shyly, realising now that the cold was indeed slowing his thinking and fogging his mind. He missed his patch of sun where he would warm up in the mornings. Standing up was more difficult than expected but as Aelic began to walk around his cell in circles his blood started moving more. 'Snow is right. My venom only works when injected into the bloodstream. But I am immune anyway so even if I swallow venom or bite myself it won't do anything. Is that the same for you Captain?' He asked curiously as he walked.

"Other than my fangs piecing my skin hurting like hell it does nothing to me." Levi shrugged and the twins nodded slowly.

Time seemed to pass slowly till the fight. The fight however went far to quickly and the cursed child was armed with an old bat. The child did manage to land a few good blows leaving the champion breathless in her cell on the floor struggling to breathe.

"Sister. Sister calm down. Breathe Sister please." Rowan panicked.

"Huntsman calm down and shut up I am trying to help Snow." Levi hissed glaring at the panicked fox before reaching through the bars and finally reaching the champions shoulder and gripping the shirt tightly before pulling her closer.

"Dead. Killed. Murder." Aelin whispered looking and Levi with dead eyes making him sigh through his nose.

"Yes dead. We are hurt let Captain help us. We struggle to breath Captain can help us." He said holding her face.

"Captain help." She barely whispered looking towards Levis cell.

"I'm here snow. Let me help you." He whispered stroking her hair to calm her down.

Aelic hummed at that information and continued to walk.
He talked with his friends at times and at others, sat in comfortable silence. For all that they were imprisoned, it was peaceful. However the peace did not last. All to soon the second fight came. Once again Aelin mercilessly destroyed her opponent, eyes blank. Aelic watched on, hating every second of this torture, with worry making him feel sick. That worry only escalated when Aelin was brought back to her cell, struggling to breathe. Standing upright and gripping onto the bars, his entire body tense and tears in his eyes, Aelic watched. He was helpless, unable to do anything whilst his two best friends began to crumble. Praying to all the gods and goddesses, he watched Levi try to calm Aelin. Aelic could barely feel the tears running down his cheeks at the girls words, only finding slight relief when Levi seemed to get through to her (using third person and 'we' too...strange - to be examined later). Thinking back on the previous time, he began to hum the song that the others had taught him. It had calmed the fox girl before and Aelic could only pray it would do it again.

Levi sighed in thanks to the snakes quick thinking hoping that Rowan would join in. Levi looked at Aelin with cold calculating eyes as she panted heavily. "Tell captain how we feel. He will know what to do." He whispered.

"Captain.. Ribs... Pain.... Broken." She breathed as she took shallow breaths using the top of her chest to breath not the lower part.


"Ok Snow. I have to press on your ribs to find out if they are broken ok. This will hurt." Levi whispered and she nodded as Levi pressed down on different ribs with the tips of his fingers.

"Ah. Captain...... Stop.... Hurts." She panted quickly as the pain caused her to breath faster.

"Your ok just breath ok. In. Out. In. Out." Levi said slowly watching her as she tried to slow her breathing.

Aelic kept singing, seeing Levi's gratitude and knowing that, although it didn't look it, the song was helping. He was relieved to hear that Aelin only had broken ribs (weird, but it was better than death). Whilst broken ribs are very painful and can be dangerous because they may puncture a lung (which luckily hadn't happened otherwise she would be coughing blood), treating them is easy. As long as Aelin got something wrapped around her torso to keep the ribs stable, she would be fine. Aelic slowed the song slightly so the beat would match Levi's in/out breathing. Hopefully Aelin would hear it and subconsciously try to match the tempo.

Aelin managed to slow her breathing just enough to allow her to use the bars of the cell to pull herself up into a sitting position with Levi supporting her back and neck as she went. She slotted her shoulder between bars and rested her head against one panting. "Hey... Captain?" She asked hearing the faint sound of footsteps from Petra and Erwin.

"Yes Snow what is it?" He asked rubbing her back calming her down.

"Are.. We... evil?" She panted and Levi looked shocked for a moment along with Rowan.

"No. None of us are evil. Just tools used by evil." He whispered and she nodded slightly holding her ribs on the left side as the her cell was opened and Petra walked in squatting infront of Aelin.

"Snow how are you feeling?" She asked.

"She has broken ribs and is struggling to breathe properly Petra." Levi said without even looking as Petra gave a stiff nod.

"Ok Erwin pick her up I need to wrap her rib cage." She ordered and Erwin nodded before he picked up the injured girl bridal style as her head lolled into his chest.

"Let's go Petra." He said walking away leaving the cursed men behind.

"She's in good hands." Petra reassured before leaving quickly.

Aelic kept singing even when Aelin started breathing slower. He watched as she pulled herself up inch by inch, before desperately asking Levi if they were evil, her eyes begging him to answer where she could not. Aelic's song faltered for a moment, as shocked and horrified as Levi and Rowan. He forced himself to keep going even when all he wanted to do was shout 'No! Of course we aren't!'. The song came easier when Levi answered for him, putting all his twisting emotions into a few quiet yet strong words. As Petra and Erwin walked in he quieted down, but dared not stop lest she lose herself again. His gentle humming was in direct contrast to the white-knuckled grip he had on the bars. The moment they left with Aelin, Aelic stopped his song and turned to Levi. 'The humans will help her right?' He asked, protectiveness for his friend over riding his trust of Petra.

"Yeah they will. After all they still want four more fights out of her." Rowan sighed bitterly before shaking his head.

"The real question is when do we get her back? Tonight? Tomorrow? Next week?" Levi asked standing up wiping the blood from his hands.

"True but her strength will not waver. She did cave in that child's skull after all they won't hurt her just help her." Rowan said trying to sound reassuring making Levi smirk.

"You suck at reassuring people but points for trying." He said with a light chuckle shaking his head.

Aelic sighed, relieved. Rowan was correct, they would look after her (even if it was just for their stupid game). And anyway, neither Rowan nor Levi would let them take Aelin away if they thought she would be harmed. Aelic smiled as well though could not laugh. Rowan's reassuring was a bit rusty, but he tried and got them to smile, so Aelic counted it as a win. Sliding down the wall and sitting on the ground with an exhausted sigh, he closed his eyes. 'It doesn't take long to wrap ribs. She will be back soon.' He said quietly, yet with the surety of someone who has experienced it before.

"Petra would probably want her back here since she will have three people watching her 24 hours a day." Levi nodded slowly.

"Also we heal faster when we are around each other." Rowan said in thought and Levi nodded slowly.

"True we all heal faster when we are around each other." He confirmed.

Aelic nodded, eyes still closed. Then his eyes shot open, a frown on his face as he repeated their last sentences. 'Wait, what?' He asked confused, looking between Rowan and Levi. 'What do you mean we heal faster around one another? How is that possible?'

"Everyone heals faster when they are around healthy people. It's more mind over matter really. The mind sees and hears the hum of healthy bodies so it will increase the rate of healing slightly to allow you to be apart of the group." Levi said before frowning. "Does that make sense?"

"So basically because we are healthy she will heal faster so she doesn't slow us down." Rowan nodded in agreement and Levi agreed.

"Petra get the door for me my hands are full." Erwin said down the hall and Petra quickly appeared opening the cell door wide for Erwin who waited for Petra to hold the hammock for him as he lay the girl in his arms down.

"Ok boys if she stops breathing or struggles to breathe beyond what she is at currently call us." Petra commanded before walking out with Erwin leaving the sleeping champion in he hammock swaying slightly her torso bandaged from hip to neck, the straps from her harness hanging around her waist and her shirt and scarf long gone as she breathed shallowly.

'I see!' Aelic said, fascinated. That was so cool! Biology was incredible. Perhaps that's why I have always been slow to heal, the boy mused to himself as the door opened and Petra and Erwin walked back in. Aelic watched as Erwin placed a sleeping Aelin into her hammock gently. He analysed her for any new injuries and examined the treatment for her old ones. Although her breathing was shallow that was to be expected so overall, they had done a very good job. He felt weird seeing the white bandages on Aelin. Although he knew they were there to help her, Aelic wished that they weren't necessary. Bandages symbolised both hurt and healing. 'They did a good job. She will be fine.' Aelic said quietly to the other boys so as not to awake the sleeping fox.

"Yes they have. Petra learnt from Susan after all and I suspect that Petra has gone to tell Susan so when we get back up there Snow will be well looked after." Levi said in his normal tone and Rowan nodded.

"It is good for Snow though she will have help and will be able to rest as she should. For now though she can sleep till the next fight for all I care." He said looking at her with a slight frown.

"Geez you can already see the bruising on her arms. That kid had some strength." Levi said looking at Aelin who did not stir just lay there breathing.

Aelic smiled, definitely seeing how Petra and Susan would get along. No wonder Petra learnt a few tricks! Smiling he nodded at Rowans words, agreeing. Aelin could sleep for the next few days if she wanted. None of them would begrudge her for it. After all, as Levi said, the boy did have some strength to him. That was unexpected! 'Will her next opponent be as strong or stronger than him?' Aelic asked, suddenly worried about how hard the last fight would be for her if she keeps amassing damage and her opponents keep getting stronger.

"Not necessarily. Huntsman fought a grown man one fight then the next he fought a young girl. I think it drawn out of a hat." Levi shrugged and Rowan nodded.

"It is a real guess but the one think I do know is that the weapon in each fight gets better." He said looking in thought.

"Knowing the pattern the way I do." Levi started looking in thought himself. "The next weapon will either be a bigger bat or a small dagger which could be blunt or sharp."

Aelic just nodded, pleased that the strength of her opponents would not increase exponentially. However, that left them with the uncertainty of what the next opponent would be like. An uncertainty that didn't worry him as much as it perhaps should considering they lived like that daily.
There's a pattern eh?! Aelic thought interested, knowing that whether it be a bigger bat or a small dagger Aelin would come out on top. Still, he was a big supporter of going in with a plan and if Levi had figured out the pattern, then they could prepare. '88, what is the weapon pattern?' He asked.

"Generally the first fight for the twins is without a weapon. Then an old bat in fact those two have broken more bats that bats have broken them. Then a better bat or a dagger. Then a shield which sounds weird but they train those kids how to use them something Cronic. Then generally a sword, Mace or other deadly weapon. The last fight is generally two on one but often on is armed with a cross bow with a single bolt." Levi shrugged. "Oddly neither of you two have been hit by a bolt before." He said turning to Rowan.

"Not entirely true I had one skim my arm two years ago." He shrugged.

'Hmmm...' Aelic said nodding, mind already whirling with possible strategies. 'A better bat or a dagger would do more damage obviously so she will need to finish off the fight quickly to avoid risk of injury. Both weapons are used in close combat but the person needs to be quick to wield them properly. If she could get close to her opponent right at the beginning, her speed will possibly allow her to knock out her opponent before they have even had the chance to strike. She needs to finish the fight quickly because the next fights will be with more destructive weapons that are harder to defend against and she needs her strength....However, if Snow can't get close enough right at the beginning or isn't faster than her opponent then the first strategy wouldn't work. Then...she would need to stay away. It's not great because she will wear down as well, but if she could stay long distance and tire her opponent then it will be easy at the end to overpower the exhausted fighter. If worse comes to worse I know that some try to enrage their opponent enough that they throw the dagger but that has far to many risks to be considered viable...' Aelic muttered to himself, completely unaware that he had said all of that out loud (possibly the most he has ever spoken at one time).

"we know to finish those fights fast but she may be triggered. that creates a whole new ball game but it could reduce the damange depending on how Ariel reacts." Rowan mused. "You should sleep Captain it does you no good to stay awake all night. The snake and I can watch Sister."

'Indeed it does.' Aelic said in response to Rowan, knowing that if Aelin is triggered then no amount of strategy will help, The gods are often inscrutable and no one can know what they will do next. He then blinked a little in surprise as his brain caught up and he realised he had said all that out loud. Oops! Ah well! He thought to himself, slightly embarrassed. Latching on to the conversation again, he nodded his agreement with Levi, mentally urging Rowan to take their advice and get some sleep. He already looks worn out and he especially needs to be able to last.

Levi sighed before running his hand through his hair tugging slightly at the ends. "Fine." He muttered before moving his hammock closer to Aelin. "If she needs help wake me." He ordered and Rowan nodded.

"Which watch do you want snake?" He asked.

Aelic sighed as Rowan blankly refused to sleep and watched as Levi caved. At least one of them is trying to rest, he thought rolling his eyes as Levi jumped into his hammock. 'I just slept, so I'll take this one. Sleep Huntsman, you need it.'

"Wake me at the guard change." He said before going to bed and falling asleep as Levi settled down almost sleeping as if he was deep down in the tunnel where his spider would live. As Rowan fell asleep he too took on the natural position that his fox would take whilst it slept.

Aelic nodded and settled down, content to watch over his sleeping friends. He couldn't help but giggle when about an hour into his watch, Rowan started kicking and, well, yipping, just like a fox would. Aelin to was curled into a fox like position and Levi hadn't moved this entire time, just like a spider. Aelic smiled and continued his watch, occasionally standing to walk a few times around his cell, but otherwise entertaining himself by using the old memorization games he used to play as a child. Eventually, the guards changed and, yawning, Aelic whispered to Rowan. 'Huntsman, wake up. It's time for your watch.'

Rowan sat up slowly and rubbed his eyes before yawning showing off his large fangs and curled tounge before getting out of bed and stretching. The familiar sound of cracking joints quietly filled the air. "Right go to bed snake." He whispered

Aelic scoffed but smiled, amused at Rowan's gruff way of showing his affection. Yawning himself, Aelic climbed into his hammock and curled up into a ball. 'Wake me for the next change.' He said sleepily, falling into a light doze before slipping off into deeper sleep.

Rowan spent his time exercising and watching the others till the sun rose illuminating the dungeon. Time trickled on slowly as Levi woke up and streched his own joints popping lightly from the ove use. "Morning Huntsman."

"Morning Captain. Did you sleep well?" Rowan asked.

"I did. How is your Sister?" Levi asked walking over to the cell wall and looking at Aelin.

"She hasn't moved at all." Rowan sighed looking at his sister.

The noises of the other boys talking filtered through the haze of Aelic's dreams and brought him back to reality. Blinking sleepily, he uncoiled and subsequently fell face first out of his hammock. '.....owww.....' He moaned quietly, still laying flat on the ground. After a few minutes, a new sound drifted up from the snake again. '....zzzz cold floooor.' Aelic muffled voice said as he curled up again, trying to look for sun but not seeing any.

"I think 21 is awake what about you?" Levi asked and Rowan shrugged.

"Give him ten minutes then maybe." He said looking at his claws.

"Well Snow survived the night and will wake sooner rather than later." Levi said observing the still sleeping champion.

"What? How can you tell?" Rowan asked looking up to look at Aelin who moved slightly before Rowan sighed happily. "She moved."

'10 minutes...' Aelic said happily, vaguely understanding the rest of the sentence (but not really). However, the word Snow and survive did register and brought with them an uncharacteristic quickening of his heart beat. It was if his body was forcing him awake to see if she was ok, something that wouldn't have happened for anyone else. Although Aelic didn't understand it, he didn't exactly mind it either at this point. '....Status? She....ok?' He asked as the snake forced his unwilling arms to hold his weight and push himself up to a sitting position.

"Wow your really not awake are you?" Levi asked raising an eyebrow as Aelin groaned in pain curling into a tighter ball.

"Does that answer your question?" Rowan asked watching Aelin as she tried fall back asleep.

"Your all too loud stop making so many noises." She whined clutching at her ribs.

"I refuse to stop breathing and stopping my heart from beating." Levi answered as Aelin slowly pulled herself up panting slightly.

Aelic pouted a little at Levi's question but soon forgot his sleepy annoyance as Aelin groaned. He grinned happily at Rowan, feeling relief that she was alive and knowing that although the fox didn't show it, his emotions were mirrored. He grinned even wider as Aelin spoke, eyes now glued to her wining form, catching every wince and breath. 'I could!' Aelic decreed, but then frowned again, brain slowly trying to find the words. 'But you wouldn't like that. No no no. Even Adalin says no.'

"Is that your guardian 21?" Aelin asked moving to stand before hissing in pain and sitting back down.

"Sprained ankle?" Levi asked frowning as Aelin nodded.

"I am staying here. I do not plan on moving much today." She said wincing as she shifted her weight again cracking her back in the process.

'Yup! Adalinda. You guys are special. No one else is allowed to know her name. But you're allowed.' Aelic said through a yawn, relaxing fully now that Aelin was completely awake and moving. Minus the broken ribs and sprained ankle, she was whole and that was all Aelic needed. Smiling, Aelic nodded at the girl's statement and then flopped to the side, curling into a happy little snake ball.

"I wonder when Petra will make her rounds to make sure your still breathing." Levi mused rubbing his chin as both Erwin and Petra walked in.

"Does now sound good 88?" Petra asked with a smile carrying two large baskets. She put them down near Aelins cell and opened the door before walking inside. "Good to see your awake Snow."

"I would rather be asleep the pain is more manageable then." Aelin sighed still holding her ribs.

"Mhmm any other injuries?" She asked

"Sprained ankle and many bruises." Aelin winced as Petra took Aelins sore ankle and wiggled it around making Aelin curl her toes in pain.

"I'll strap it for you." Petra smiled before getting a bandage from one of the baskets and strapping Aelins ankle. "Better?"

"A little." Aelin sighed in relief before coughing lightly. "I hate broken ribs.

"Don't we all?" Erwin asked grabbing Petra by the arm an lightly pulling her out of the cell and opening Rowans cell. "In you get Huntsman."

Aelic giggled quietly to himself at Levi's question, having already sensed the heat signatures of Petra and Erwin a while ago. Thus, he was completely unconcerned when the two walked in, just pleased that Petra had the foresight to bring some bandages for Aelin. Although it caused the girl some discomfort, it would help in the long run and they all knew it. Aelic struggled upright and whined as Rowan was allowed out of his cell to visit Aelin. 'I wanna visit to!' He said pouting, still sleepy since he had only woke up a few minutes ago and it was cold in the cells.

"You are not allowed to 21. Siblings only." Erwin scowled looking completely happy.

"That Huntsman is bipolar in a nutshell. Two emotions at the same time." Levi said pointing at Eriwn who nodded in agreement.

"Right breakfast." Petra sang opening the other basket and showing the array of fruits for everyone.

Aelic huffed and flashed his fangs before curling back into a ball and ignoring the rest of them. Or at least, trying to. The smell and mention of food got him up again and hungrily watching the basket, categorising every fruit present and listing them according to preference and energy intake. '....Apple, 3, 116......Orange, 7, 62....'. Although he hadn't had any sun to warm his blood and get circulation going, his movements and the energy from the food should speed the process up a little. Aelic knew he acted like a child when he was sleep and didn't really like it (but he can't tell etc) and so, was looking forward to being awake.

Petra handed out fruits to the champions and frowned as Aelin opted for softer fruit leaving her much beloved red apples behind. "What's wrong snow? Your not eating your apples."

"I got hit in the jaw where it joins to the rest of my skull so hard foods hurt but the softer ones and mild talking are fine." Aelin explained as Rowan pulled back Aelins loose hair showing the bruise to Petra.

"That makes sense now. I will still leave some here in case you feel up to eating them." Petra nodded and gave some to Rowan who held them carefully as not to puncture them with his claws. "Oh and showers will be in about an hour so Huntsman and Snow can spend the night together since it will be good for her to heal. That's what we told the other guards anyway."

Aelic felt sad for Aelin because she couldn't eat her apples, but was also pleased because that meant more for him. Yay! He was also pleased that Aelin and Rowan would be able to stay together again. It would be good for them both, in more ways than one. 'You risk much for the twins Petra. Thank you.' He said simply, showing his gratitude.

"Oh it's no problem at all. Like Susan I do hate seeing them apart and as they said last time I couldn't imagine a life with Erwin. He has become apart of me and I know that what I feel for Erwin is different for what the twins feel for each other but it's worth it." She smiled sadly and Erwin looked shocked.

"I believe Eyebrows has malfunctioned and is need of assistance Petra." Levi said with a smirk

Aelic grinned at Petra's words, eyebrows raised. Well that certainly wasn't the response he was expecting! She was adorable! Aelic couldn't help but burst out laughing when he saw Levi was correct. "Ahem whilst this is a touching moment and the twins should learn from this I case they end up liking someone it is a little personal and shouldn't really be shared infront of four cursed demons." Levi said with a cough to start.

"How many times do we have to tell you short stack you are not demons!" Erwin roared grabbing Levi's collar and lifting him into the air.

"Erwin put him down this instant. You know what Susan will do if you hurt any of these four." Petra warned and Erwin dropped Levi who landed on his feet and dusted himself off as if nothing had happened.

Aelic grinned again at the cute couple and at Levi's words, which echoed his own thoughts. Bar the demons part. The change in Erwin's personality left him with whip lash and Aelic surged to his feet, fangs extended and food forgotten as he 'threatened' the older Cursed. Although logically he knew he couldn't do anything, his animal instincts were screaming at him to attack, to protect. Aelic managed to hold himself back from hissing and running forward, but could not stop the extending of his fangs for the life of him. Relaxing slightly when Petra put a quick stop to her lover's actions, he watched as Levi dusted himself off, completely calm. Although Erwin was a nice guy, Aelic knew for a fact he could never completely trust him for this reason. Levi seemed fine, and that was what mattered, but he still watched Erwin's every move, like a predator would his prey.
