Cherie Hard science fiction is a subgenre of science fiction characterized by an interest in scientific detail or accuracy. Many hard SF stories focus on the natural sciences and technological developments. It leaves the reader with the feeling of "That could really happen," even if history later proves it to be false.

MIT created a list of the the ten best hard science fiction books. Did they get it right?

Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea -- Jules Verne
Time Machine -- H. G. Wells
I, Robot -- Isaac Asimov
Shockwave Rider -- John Brunner
Fountains of Paradise -- Arthur C. Clark
Cyteen -- C.J. Cherryh
Mars Trilogy -- Kim Stanley Robinson
Diamond Age -- Neal Stephenson
Rainbows End -- Vernor Vinge
Incandescence -- Greg Egan

The last one of these was published in 2008. Are there more current books that you think should go on this list.
