Chad Descoteaux | 14 comments I have had the Han Solo trilogy in my possession for a long time, but since life, moving and health isdues got in the way, i have not had time to read it. Any good? No spoilers, though. I'm looking forward to that Han Solo movie they're making, although I'm sure it'll be different. He's my favorite Star Wars character.

Peter (fotoboy) | 11 comments Even though it's Legends now, I think it was a good fun adventure read.
Only downside of course though is that it IS Legends now, and is more than likely about to be rewritten or picked through (now That could be fun to identify any bits they keep from it) with the new Han story.

Jamie Hicks (jamiehicks73) | 35 comments Pardon my ignorance but which Han Solo Trilogy are we talking about?

message 5: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Hicks (jamiehicks73) | 35 comments If you are referring to The Paradise Snare and The Hutt Gambit, they are excellent! Have yet to read Rebel Dawn. Soon. The Paradise Snare has some interesting parallels with Oliver Twist. A must read if you are a Solo fan.

The monkey's name was ABU, which means the monkey was MALE not FEMALE (Aba).

message 11: by Timothy (new)

Timothy Coffelt | 19 comments Just delete the app or close your account and it will stop. Not that difficult. I don't think anyone is personally attacking you here.

message 12: by Aba (new)

Aba | 17 comments yes they are

message 13: by Chad (new)

Chad Descoteaux | 14 comments Why haven't you deleted your account or the app, sister of the monkey from Aladdin? That's why I said the power was yours.

Aba, you are getting these messages because you are a member of the 'Star Wars Reads Panel' group on GoodReads. As a member of the group, you automatically receive notices (probably via email) about new discussions.

Follow this URL, and click the "Leave this group" link near the top. You will need to be signed in to GoodReads for the link to properly unsubscribe you. After that, you should no longer receive the emails that have been bothering you. If you are using the GoodReads mobile app, the unsubscribe process will be different.

For what it's worth, I do not think Chad was trying to bother you. There are 953 members of this group, and we all got a notice when Chad started this discussion.

Stop antagonizing her.

message 16: by Chad (new)

Chad Descoteaux | 14 comments All I said was that the power was hers, meaning she could close out her account herself.

message 17: by Aba (new)

Aba | 17 comments why are we talking about star wars I think that is a good topic

Amber Martingale | 264 comments Chad wrote: "All I said was that the power was hers, meaning she could close out her account herself."

The WAY you were saying it...calling her "sister of Aladdin's monkey" was antagonistic.

Chad Descoteaux | 14 comments Excellent question, Amber. Why are we talking about Star Wars in the Goodreads Star Wars reads panel discussion?

message 24: by Aba (new)

Aba | 17 comments Chad leave her alone she is talking to me

message 25: by Amber (last edited Jun 01, 2016 09:28AM) (new)

Amber Martingale | 264 comments Chad, I wasn't the one asking the question. So, unless you have something that's on topic to add to this discussion, PLEASE JUST BUTT OUT!

message 26: by Chad (new)

Chad Descoteaux | 14 comments Which topic? Star Wars or Akinator?

message 27: by Alex (new)

Alex Diaz-Granados | 51 comments Jamie wrote: "Pardon my ignorance but which Han Solo Trilogy are we talking about?"

I read A.C. Crispin's Han Solo Trilogy. It's a good trio of novels, to be sure, but I liked Brian Daley's take on Han and Chewie a lot more. Unfortunately, both authors have passed away, and the novels are now non-canonical, relegated by Disney to the limbo known as Star Wars LEGENDS.

message 28: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale | 264 comments STAR WARS, of course, Chad. Never heard of Akinator.

message 29: by Adam (new)

Adam Howell | 11 comments Amber, Akinator is the name of the game that Aba asked you about on May 31st.

I think Chad is pointing out the irony that he originated this thread, other people took the thread off-topic, but now he is being accused of derailing the conversation.

message 30: by Amber (last edited Jun 04, 2016 12:35PM) (new)

Amber Martingale | 264 comments Oh, OK. Still holds true that until Aba asked me about it, I'd never heard of Akinator.

message 31: by Chad (new)

Chad Descoteaux | 14 comments Thank you, Adam.

message 32: by Aba (new)

message 41: by Aba (new)

Aba | 17 comments Aba wrote: "Amber wrote: "Oh, OK. Still holds true that until Aba asked me about it, I'd never heard of Akinator."" Its a game that guesses what you are thinking in your head and it has to be a person and it will ask you on what color hair and stuff like that and then at the end it will see if it was the person that you thought of and then if it is hit yes if its not hit no

message 42: by Aba (last edited Jun 05, 2016 05:39PM) (new)

Aba | 17 comments what is this about any way chad

message 43: by Chad (new)

Chad Descoteaux | 14 comments Star Wars, Aba. This is the Goodreads Star Wars page. The one you didn't want to be on and didn't know why you were on.

message 44: by Amber (last edited Jun 08, 2016 07:46AM) (new)

Amber Martingale | 264 comments Aba wrote: "what does that mean and what are you talking about"

Han Solo is his favorite STAR WARS character, Aba.

I sent you a reply to yesterday's message. I was offline on Sunday since I don't have Internet access at home.

In answer to your questions about the weather where I am, Aba, it's 85 degrees here in Belleville, IL. And weather.com is predicting one hell of a scorcher for most of the US for summer.

message 45: by Petter (new)

Petter Avén | 96 comments I read Crispin's Han Solo trilogy in my mid teens. Feels long ago at this point! As far as I can remember I found it to be at best an okay read at the time. I didn't, and still don't, think Crispin really got Han right and that the end of the trilogy doesn't fit with the Han we see in A New Hope. Just an opinion, mind you. But, Crispin did develop a few things that I found interesting; the Hutts, for instance. There are worse Star Wars reads out there for sure.

message 46: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale | 264 comments Yeah...like every damned thing written by Karen Traviss(ty!)

message 47: by Adam (new)

Adam Howell | 11 comments On the topic of bad authors...

I started reading EU books back in 93 or 94. I devoured Zhan and Anderson, and thought they would be my new favorite authors (after Asimov passed away).

But then I read The Truce at Bakura. That is when I realized that just because a story takes place in the SW universe, does not mean it will be good. "Leia would never be that mopey!"

Then I read Jedi Search, and realized that even good authors can sometimes write mediocre stories. "Really?! Another superweapon?"

That is when I gave up on everything EU. I am only "okay" with Starkiller base, and only because the movie clearly showed it was just another Death Star.

message 48: by Alex (new)

Alex Diaz-Granados | 51 comments I've given up on much of the old EU books, except for those by Alan Dean Foster, Brian Daley, Timothy Zahn, James Luceno, Steve Perry, and Michael Reaves. I have quite a few books that looked like they'd be enjoyable ( The Courtship of Princess Leia (Star Wars) by Dave Wolverton ), but ended up gathering dust on my bookshelves.

message 49: by Petter (new)

Petter Avén | 96 comments *stares transfixed* Alex, please put away "The Courtship", very carefully, and step away from it. Don't do anything rash. We can talk about this.

That's one of the worst Star Wars novels I ever bought. The Crystal Star is another awful EU book.
