I wouldn't lean on that as THE means of getting people to bite on a purchase, but as a tactic on top of other tactics, it can't hurt if handled professionally.

It's been a long time since I picked up my tatting shuttle, though, and somehow tatted lace bookmarks don't scream "WW1 Army veterans", do they?

The larger prizes I've seen listed lately linked to referrals are an interesting idea though. That's ultimately what you want - to give people an incentive to push your book beyond your immediate network.

the cons you could run across it shipping cost. The way I combated that was to get a better prize to give away less often.
The bookmark thing is good to for getting to word out with people around your work and home. It's less likely they'll throw away a bookmark because it's also useful. It's gotten me some orders from people I work with.
That's all I got

I've been debating the pros and cons of this method and would love your thoughts and experiences on it.
Thanks!
