I never work on two books at the same time. At least as far as writing goes. I do work on marketing and book trailers and editing but that's a different beast altogether.

Hmm hard to say. I think in my books I'd have to go with Horus or Anubis. Who are yours?

PST typically. Most of my chats are now open for the entire month and the author checks in to answer questions.

I've always been fascinated with Egypt. There are so many interesting stories to tell and exploring the mythology was both a challenge and exciting for me. Egypt was one of several ideas I talked about with my publisher and that was the one we agreed on for my next project.

One word? Read. =) Seriously though, reading is important. I am inspired constantly by what I read and am of the opinion that the best writers are readers first.

Natalie Arroyo | 45 comments hello, my name is Natalie and i love your books. can't wait to read Recreated!!! My question is: what inspired you to write books?

I became interested in creative writing since 6th grade after a friend of mine was telling me of a story she was writing using us and our friends as characters. i still remember my first story using my friends as characters, a fan fiction of Mask of Zorro

but eventually i started coming up with original ideas from around me and in my dreams, and soon i was able to complete a novel in 2013, but too busy with college life and going for a different career. but writing will be my back-up

I started writing in 2008 mostly as a new years goal. It wasn't until 2010 that the books got picked up. I figured at the time that writing would be my hobby. I was lucky that it became a career. It's a really fun job. Congrats on finishing your first book!

I think they'd make great graphic novels! I was approached once by a small group but we ultimately passed at that time. I definitely couldn't do it myself. I have zero artistic ability.

I love all animals. Well...except reptiles. Not so sure about those. I think I actually prefer insects over them. Number one is probably a horse.

That's hard to say. I was inspired to write by Stephenie Meyer and J.K. Rowling. But as far as loving literature, I have to give credit to two teachers. My 6th grade English teacher and my hs Shakespeare teacher.

I'd like to move on a bit from mythology but my next book after Reunited (Realigned's title has changed) will be Tiger's Dream.

Imasha When writing about the love story between two characters, do you initially plan for a certain two to end up together or do you write and see where it ends up?

I do have an idea for a Deaf main character. We'll see if I get around to writing it. In the meantime you might want to try Soundless by Richelle Mead.

I don't allow myself to stop reading. Since it's a part of my job, I keep at it, even if I fall in love with a book.

Izzy (izzy_vendra) | 2 comments Hey Colleen,
Tiger's curse is my most favourite book series EVER!!! I live in Australia and was wondering if the Tiger's curse movie is coming out and if it does will it reach Australia? Thanks
Izzy

message 440: by Imasha (new)

Imasha After the Tiger Saga, I was left speechless and so fulfilled that I reread the series immediately hoping to savor every last word. I thank you for such a beautiful story with the beautiful details involving the love story between the characters. I haven't found a better book since.

However recently I stumbled across Sarah J Maas A court of thorns and roses series. And after the second book, I found myself constantly smiling remembering the amazing love story between the two main characters. If you have time, you should definitely read it.

My Question to you is, do you know any other books like your own (or like ACOTAR) where the love story between two characters is gradually built up and blossoms into an everlasting romance?

Hi Izzy,
It's hard to describe where the inspiration for character development comes from. I use pinterest for cool monsters and physical characteristics but it's almost like they each develop their own voice and become real in my mind. I wish I knew how to tell you to do it but often I imagine the appearance and that lends a voice.

It should be coming out around the same time. But, the novella, Reignited will be out in Feb so that should hold you until the third book.
