Sue Bintliff | 5 comments Modern day adult mystery set in USA. A team of scientists discover a skeleton whilst clearing out a disused military bunker. Most of the team are killed but two survivors, a married couple, are blamed and go on the run and are on the FBI's most wanted list. After several years in hiding and having had a son, they are leading fairly normal lives when, due to witnessing a crime, the are discovered and have to go on the run again. Now that they have a young son they decide the best way out is to solve the mystery and prove themselves innocent. With help from old friends they return to the disused bunker to determine what really happened.

I read this book probably 10-15 years ago but I don't think it was a new release then. It may be a complete red herring but I feel the title suggests not returning/going back or something along those lines but I may be completely wrong!

Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks

Sue Bintliff | 5 comments Thanks for responding. I think they are shot by snipers or granades are thrown into the bunker. Ultimately it's determined to be either a government or military coverup.

Fifteen years ago, newlyweds Jake and Carolyn Donovan worked for Enviro-Kleen, a firm whose scrubbing of a gas-laden army ammunition plant touched off what came to be known throughout the nation as the Newark Incident, a catastrophe that left all 16 of their co-workers dead and hundreds of square miles of the Arkansas countryside contaminated with radioactive waste. The sole survivors, the Donovans, were promptly branded ecoterrorists responsible for the holocaust, and promoted to the top of the FBI's dance card.
