Quantum (quantumkatana) In May, I'm going to start reading Capital: A Critique of Political Economy, Vol 1.

Might as well go to the source since we're critiquing capitalism in one of the other threads.

Nik Krasno | 19865 comments That's some lengthy read, but hopefully interesting.. May be a bit outdated, but should still be relevant and profound. I see now that it has high ratings and generally positive critique..
We studied parts of it at school, but despite reading probably hundreds of books a year at school, I felt aversion towards anything that was on school's curriculum -:)

Ian Miller | 1857 comments Funny that, Nik. I too had an aversion to much of what was on my school's curriculum, except for Shakespeare. I still think Lear was a fantastic piece of literature.

Quantum (quantumkatana) He actually cuts right to the chase; he starts talking about what value is and how it's created in the first few pages. I'm going to read it out loud to my 11yr old daughter after we finish the odyssey (100p left!) and Gilgamesh.

In my case the exception was Pushkin. Still remember by heart parts of Evgeniy Onegin...

What did she do wrong? -:) Hope it's not considered a cruel treatment, unless you expect her fall asleep sooner. Capital after Gilgamesh may be too sharp a leap -:)
