Need clarification about a few lingering plot points.. [Spoilers]

I read through this book pretty quickly and I feel like I didn't fully understand the relationship between Megan and Kamal Abdic. She was not having a romantic or sexual relationship with Kamal, correct? Was the kiss they shared outside on her patio strictly a form of friendly comfort?

And I might as well throw in this question as well. Since Rachel and Anna lied about how Tom died, did they not reveal the fact that he was Megan's murderer?

Why would Kamal tell the police about the death of Megan's daughter, including her role in it? Did he believe Mac could have killed her and he chose to disclose this to help the investigation?

As far as I understand it, Megan and Kamal definitely slept together, but I understood that he did put an end to it, likely before she confessed to what happened with her child. I suspect the kiss wasn't just friendly, but he might have been trying to resist at that point (and not doing a great job of it).

I don't think there's any indication that they inform the police of Tom's confession at the end. He couldn't be brought to justice at that point, but for the sake of the case, you'd think that detail would have been shared with the authorities.

I don't think it's ever explained who shared the information about Megan's daughter with the police. I got the impression, however, that Tom also knew (somehow) because of the way he talked to her before he killed her and the words he chose. So it's entirely possible that he told the police about what happened to divert their attention from him and encourage them to seek out Mac. As far as we know, Kamal didn't share Megan's confessions, citing confidentiality as his rationale.

Totally with HC on this. I believe Kamal didn't share the details of Megan's past. Tom could have because he is the only person whom otherwise Megan would have confided in considering how close they had gotten.

Kamal did share a romantic relationship with Megan at one point but the kiss they shared on patio could just be something that Kamal succumbed to, or maybe he was just trying to console a despairing Megan.

In my opinion Anna and Rachel didn't find it necessary to share the details of Megan's murder with the police, partly because of the complications it would create in their own lives and partly because both the parties involved were dead already so they may not have seen the point in it at all.

I do think Kamal spilled the beans, if he can have a forbidden relationship with a patient then he is certainly capable of breaking the confidentiality. He was smart, he only reveal the location and action, but not her side of the story or her feelings, otherwise the police may figure out it was Kamal that leaked the info. He probably did it so that the scent would be thrown off him.

Just like every character in the novel, I think he's a messed up, he wants to do right but makes mistakes.

I feel like it had to be Kamal because Megan made such a big deal about only sharing the info with him.
I do have another question- if Tom skewed each situation where Rachel was drunk, was there a different reason Rachel took Evie?

I definitely think Kamal told the police about Libby, in case it was Mac. I fully believe it was Detective Riley that leaked it to the press. That part of the story was the only part where I had an empathy for Megan. Also, Kamal was incredibly insightful about why she didn't want to sleep.

I would think the women would HAVE to have told them about Tom's involvement. Why else would it have been self-defense? How else would Rachel not get in trouble for being there?
