Reading Sprints

What are Reading Sprints?

Reading Sprints are small chunks of time (usually around 30 minutes but can be more or less) completely devoted to reading. Meant to help you focus on a small time to read, Reading Sprints are good to find small times, during an otherwise busy day, to read.

As a bonus, you can find someone(s) to sprint with! Post a time that you plan to start your sprint, and how long it will last, and perhaps others will join in with you. Or just sprint when you are able and post your sprint times.

Ways you can join in the weekend Reading Sprints:

★ Post a time you plan to start sprint and duration
★ Do nothing but READ during that sprint
★ Come back to report on your sprint and how many pages you read
★ Do your own sprints and tell us about them after you've finished a sprint
★ Join in the Reading Sprint Relay, Sunday March 20
★ Create a sprint of 5, 15, 25, 45, 60 minutes, anything in between or more! Sprint lengths are up to you!
★ Read & Have Fun!!

Ahhh, thanks. :)

Hopefully someone(s) will come play today. I am getting ready to start my first sprint of the day, but the dog needs a bath first. :(

Bobbi (schadenfreudian) | 463 comments Give me roughly an hour and I can start a 60 minute sprint at 12:30 EST (4:30 PM UTC).

message 11: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) That's about when I was going to start, Bobbi. I'm up for starting in less than 10 minutes and sprinting for an hour. Dog still needs a bath, but she can wait. :D

Anyone else for a sprint at 12:30 EST for an hour?

Awesome!!

Getting sprinting now! See y'all in an hour! :D

message 15: by Bobbi (new)

Bobbi (schadenfreudian) | 463 comments 3 is definitely more fun than one. :)

message 16: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Good sprint! How were yours?

I finished up the novella I was working on that I had 50 minutes left for, but the last 20 minutes of it was a preview of the main book, which I had already read. So, I started another audiobook, one that was picked for me for a swap, and I enjoy it already.

I'll definitely be up for a few more sprints today to get in more of that book!

How did y'all do? What book(s) did you read?

message 17: by Bobbi (new)

Bobbi (schadenfreudian) | 463 comments Mine went pretty well. I put a small dent in my historical fiction Finding Rebecca. 35 pages is decent, I think. I tend to read slowly when I really enjoy a book.

I will more than likely do some more sprints today, but I'll be reading different books each time.

message 18: by Delitealex (new)

Delitealex | 3990 comments I got 3% read of my buddy read that I'm trying to finish so I can get started on my challenge books for the week. The Initiation

message 19: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Awesome ladies! I'm glad you had a productive time!

Y'all up for more? I'm thinking I'll sprint again here at either 3:30 or 3:45 (EST) for another hour, that way I can get it in before Hubby gets home from work, provided He doesn't leave early. :)

message 20: by Rylie (new)

Rylie | 298 comments Karsyn, let me know whether you pick 3:30 or 3:45, and I'll sprint with you. I'm about to start
On the Edge (The Edge, #1) by Ilona Andrews
I've been meaning to start this book for a while, but other things just keep catching my attention, for challenges and such.

Yay Rylie!! :D Let's go ahead and wait for 3:45 to see if more people can join in, give them a little more time to see this, and I can still get my full hour done before Hubby gets here.

message 22: by Rylie (new)

Rylie | 298 comments Sounds good! Less than 15 minutes to go. Anyone? :D

message 23: by Delitealex (new)

Delitealex | 3990 comments I'm in

message 24: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) I left you a message over at Coin Counter, Rylie. If the totals we have for you are wrong, I'll fix 'em after the sprint when I'm back on the good computer.

I'm ready to go, though I have a feeling my Hubby is going to come home early, dab in the middle of it. I think I'll hold up a note that says leave me alone. Hehe!!

I already warned Him I might stay up all night. Hopefully the sprints will fill up more, or I'm gonna have to sprint them all. :D

message 25: by Rylie (new)

Rylie | 298 comments I saw it. :) That sounds accurate. I'll go through everything just to be sure, after the sprint.

message 26: by Jex (new)

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments Last minute joining the sprint!

message 27: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Wooohooo Jex! If anyone else wants to jump in, feel free. See y'all in an hour! :D

message 28: by Karsyn (last edited Mar 19, 2016 01:57PM) (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) How did everyone's hour go?

I'm listening to my audio at 1.5, so slightly faster than normal speed and I'm up to 24%. I'm really enjoying it so far so I think I'll jump into the next book after this one. YAY for another good time travel book. Just One Damned Thing After Another @ 24%

And my Hubby actually didn't get here yet, so He's leaving on time, which with the shopping He's gonna do means He'll hopefully be here within the half hour.

Gonna try to get one more in before the Relay begins in 3 hours. No promises though, since Hubby will want dinner at some point. I'll most likely stay up all night and take the hours no one has yet. Hopefully a few more will sign up. It's been super quiet in general today, guess everyone is out enjoying their weekend!!

message 29: by Rylie (last edited Mar 19, 2016 02:01PM) (new)

Rylie | 298 comments I got a good hour of reading in. I started on page 1, and I'm up to page 103, chapter 10 of 26.
This was while my boyfriend was periodically reading me Garfield comics as they amused him, and telling me about a couple of cool Mindcraft mods he might start playing with.
Not bad, not bad!

message 30: by Jex (new)

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments My reading was a bit interrupted as I ended up needing to make lunch at the same time. Still got a good 30 pages read and I'm almost finished with Woman at Point Zero by Nawal El-Saadawi

message 31: by Delitealex (new)

Delitealex | 3990 comments I read 5% I only have one more chapter left I hope to catch up on some other buddy reads.

message 32: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Awesome ladies!! :) Glad y'all are getting some reading in!

My Hubby is in and checking out His new game, so He's set for a while. If anyone wants to do a quickie, :) I'm up for doing a half hour at 6pm EST. After that, I'll need to make dinner.

LMK ladies!!

Sure. I'll get a cup of coffee, and be set to go. We'll see if I get another 5 chapters or so read.
My boyfriend is probably wanting dinner, so I'll also have to do the dinner thing soon. :)

message 34: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Sounds good Rylie. I'll probably start a few minutes after 6, gotta get the animals settled if I can.

See ya in a bit!

Anyone else feel free to join in.

message 35: by Delitealex (new)

Delitealex | 3990 comments I'm in just need to figure out what Im reading next :)

message 36: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Starting now! :D

message 37: by Rylie (new)

Rylie | 298 comments Well, i didn't get the 5 chapters read, only 3, but I think they were longer. I'm on page 150 now. And, I started at about 6:03, and every minute counts, lol.

message 38: by Delitealex (new)

Delitealex | 3990 comments 5% read trying to finish up an anthology I started a while ago. 56% done

message 39: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) I read about 35 minutes, then made some dinner. :)

Relay starts in 20 minutes, hopefully Teresa will be around to start us off! :D
