Barbara, Those are not the books by Denise Swanson that were on my list, but I checked them out and ordered them from Amazon yesterday. They look interesting so I am changing from the original Deveraux's Dime Store Mystery Series by Denise Swanson that was on my list to the books you picked for me. I hope I get them soon. I am anxious to start to read them.

Thank you for introducing me to them. I'm sure I will like them!

Mary - All but one of the books you posted was from the Scumble River series (4 out of 5). I thought you had posted the Deveraeux Dime Store book by mistake so I didn't point it out. Now it sounds like it was the other way around.

I've read all of the Scumble River series and all but the newest one in the Devereaux series. They are both good although this author does have a triangle in one series (that took longer than I liked to get resolved) and what may turn into a quadrangle in the other one.

Sorry, Mary. I saw the three books in the Scumble River series and thought the Dime Store Mysteries had been included by mistake. My bad. Feel free to read from either one! I've read 2 of the Scumble River stories (both pretty good) and have one of the Dime Store series on my TBR pile. Either way you go, Denise Swanson is a solid writer (based on my experience and that of one of my friends who has read ALL of both series). Let me know what you think! --Barbara

Nell/Barbara,

That was a mistake. I was looking for the Dime Store Mysteries and got the others by mistake. But the ones you picked for me seem to be good too, so I am going with them. Besides Amazon just let me know that the first book is on the way and I will have it on Monday so I am a happy camper.

Thanks for all comments either way, I get new books to try!

Anna Catherine, my German is too old and too limited to translate most of your series titles, so I am choosing Agatha Raisin by M.C. Beaton for you. I think I have read all or nearly all of the Agatha Raisin series and I loved them. I can hardly wait for a new one or one of her Hamish McBeth series to come out. So I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

Thanks Jeanne, I love the Agatha Raisin serie and you made an excellent choice! I just started this serie last year, so I need some time to be up to date and after two/three books I always need a little break :D

Books are announced pre-publication and listed on GR usually a few months before they are released.

I didn't notice anyone posting unpublished books for this challenge.

Hmm maybe there is a different publication date in the UK but Murder in the Secret Garden isn't out until August over here (which is annoying as I want to read it lol)

A book is not eligible for this challenge if it hasn't been published unless you have an ARC (advanced reader's copy).

Anna Catharina - Please pick another series for Karen. She didn't notice that one of the books in this series won't be published until August 2016. It's showing up on GR in advance of publication.

Hilary - This must be a favorite series since you are eagerly waiting for release of the new one.

Connie, you are right, this is a substantial cozy mystery. I am looking forward to the next one. I was also glad I could use it for the 2000 challenge as well. Thanks for a great choice.

Mary (mw8019) | 273 comments I am finally reading my second April book. The first book in the series, Murder of a Small-Town Honey (A Scumble River Mystery, #1) by Denise Swanson , was great, I could not wait to get to the next one.

I am now almost finished with the second, Murder of a Sweet Old Lady (A Scumble River Mystery, #2) by Denise Swanson , and so far that is really good also.

I am happy to have found this series, each one seems to be better than the one before. I will not give this series up!

Barbara Sousa | 504 comments I finally finished my first book for April: The Grilling Season (A Goldy Bear Culinary Mystery, #7) by Diane Mott Davidson .

I had read the first several books years ago, and last year I got some of the more recent ones, but never got around to those in the middle of the series.

While this book may not have been as tightly plotted as some of the later ones, it was a good story with a lot of moving pieces. I would probably give it 3.5 stars as it could have been edited just a bit more.

I also was extremely pleased that the two obnoxious characters from the newer books -- Yolanda and (the ridiculously named) Ferdinanda were absent. I sincerely hope that the next book Ms. Mott Davidson writes involves Goldy investigating their murders!

I'm onto the next book, Prime Cut (A Goldy Bear Culinary Mystery, #8) by Diane Mott Davidson . Hope to have that wrapped up by the end of the month.

message 92: by Helen (new)

Helen (helennn) | 1020 comments I read my two April books, by Tamar Myers, while I was on holiday in Solomon Islands. I have read most of the series, but was really disappointed with Butter Safe Than Sorry (Pennsylvania Dutch Mystery, #18) by Tamar Myers , which was so excessively silly, more like a caricature.
The Death of Pie (Pennsylvania Dutch Mystery, #19) by Tamar Myers was almost like an apology for its predecessor.

Marisa (moretta) | 421 comments I've just read the second one in the series: Iced Spy and I've liked it better than the first one (I have it pending). I think it's too "cozy" but I have to read the third one to take a decision.
