Iz | 3 comments A girl lives with her younger sister on the outskirts of a city. Her parents are long gone, so it's just the two of them. The older sister makes potions/remedies for the people around them.

Below might be all spoilers? I dunno, but I think it's all within the first quarter of the book. I read it within the last year or two.

A man comes to the older sister one day and tells her to convince a noble woman that's coming to see her later that day to marry a nobleman, as it will be very beneficial for the nobleman; if she does this, she'll get paid a lot of money. When the girl sees the lady, she can't go through with it, as she sees the terrible future the woman will have with him. Lady decides not to marry him, girl screwed up her deal and her house gets set on fire. Good news though, a man on a horse rescues her and her sister! I think. Maybe the sister dies? Might be set in the kind of stereotypical medieval city.

I can't think of much more, as the book was lent to me, so I never got any further than this.

SparksofEmber | 957 comments How old was the book when you read it? Do you remember anything about the cover? Is the older sister a witch?

Maybe: The Mayhem Sisters?

Iz | 3 comments The older sister is the witch. She takes care of the younger sister. I believe it was only the two of them as both their parents died.

I honestly remember nothing of the cover or the year. After a while, all these book covers start to look alike. Sorry. ):

That's not the book, but thank you for trying!

Iz | 3 comments The book was The Mist-Torn Witches by Barb Hendee. I honestly have no idea which solved section this belongs to.
