This section covers the 6th Cithrin chapter through to the 8h Marcus chapter. The first sentences of the section are:

Years before, in another lifetime, Cithrin had been part of a caravan attacked by robbers. They’d been stopped by a tree across the dragon’s jade of the road. Before they could clear it, bandits had come from the sides and behind. The plan Cithrin hatched now wasn’t precisely the same but neither was it so very different. There were only a few scraps of information she needed.

Justine (justine_ao) I'm only partway through this section but I'm not clear on how all the spider priests are supposed to get from all over the place, including the Keshet (which I had thought was pretty far away) to Camnipol without running into Dannion and his army?

Geoff (geoffgreer) That's a good point. Some of those priests might have already been killed in the Timzinae uprisings though. so they won't be attending

Scott (thekeeblertree) | 1049 comments That part slightly bugged me too. Seems to be something that would take months to happen

Justine (justine_ao) Well, I just really wondered especially about that scout who got the priests from the temple in the Keshet that took Geder basically weeks to get to the first time around. I mean, I realize that they know where the temple is this time, but it is still really isolated.

And there is still the issue of the roads seeming to be very easy to travel on for all that there is an approaching army and bands of soldiers roaming about. Just a thought.

I hadn't thought about the army in the way. Interesting point. I'll just continue to suspend my disbelief.

I can't see this plan going off well anyways..

Meanwhile Geder is the king of self delusion. He seems to feel no guilt at all. Just anger at being "duped" into all the bad things he's done, including murdering hundreds of innocent children. And he can't wait to celebrate his triumph by kissing Cithrin. Eeesh.

I think Geder might be the best villain I've ever read in fantasy. He's not really evil, just incredibly self delusional and petty.

Marcus is working on plans to kill Enis, just in case. It's interesting we find out Enis lied to them about creating the Temzane. What else has he lied to them about?

Onward to the last section. I can't wait to see how this all resolves.
