Yes, I see. i didn`t actually think about it, thanks for opening my eyes!

Except that Harry never showed any interest in Hermione... I always knew he would end up with Ginny, what with her red her like his mother, lol. To be fair, I know JKR said she regrets having put Hermione and Ron together, but I think they are a good couple, they complement each other.

Regarding Cormoran and Robin, I'm the same, I'd love for that wedding to be annulled, if anything, right out of the gate, and not necessarily because of Cormoran's crush on Robin. Matthew is a jerk and became complacent because he thought he was losing her, but as soon as he feels secure again, he'll get back to being a jerk. Robin deserves better.

When did he become complacent and I didn't get it? When he brought the newspaper home to show Cormoran's add to Robin or when he deleted her voicemail + call history altogether and blocked Cormoran's number? He is always a jerk and if Robin has any bit of logic left in her she should dump him before they sign the wedding papers!

message 104: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Nikola One way Robin could find out about the blocked phone number, is when she comes back to work the first day, Cormoran can't get a call through to her. Unless sneaky Matthew unblocks it. Regarding the rather gross "book Cormoran" compared to the pretty, but roughed up Tom Burke, TV Cormoran, beautiful women liked and hooked up with Strike, so he couldn't have been too gross!!

Bii So, in the series they do get married. All those dreams about the marriage not happening went down the drain.

Katerina Bii wrote: "So, in the series they do get married. All those dreams about the marriage not happening went down the drain."

Hi! Watching the episode it was left with such a bad taste that I have no longer interest in reading the next book!
Rowling gave the opening pages to Tom Edge so they could film the wedding scene better so it's how the story continues also in Lethal White!
I feel like a was played by Rowling all these years that I waited for the fourth book and I was given the continuation throuth the tv-series and that the scene wasn't even as described in the book!
Robin wasn't supposed to be a happy bride, the smile Robin gave Cormoran wasn't so genuine and the way she said "I do" without spark!
Cormoran was left in the church alone looking like a beaten up puppy I didn't like it!
Also Robin spend half of the third book jealous about Cormoran and was annoyed by almost everything Matthew did and when I saw her leaving the church leaning lovingly at his shoulder like she is so in love with him and happy to be his wife I felt so let down by what I saw that I really don't want to read about it also in the book!
I felt like a was watching something different to what I read + I hate the fact that bloody Matthew is leaving the church like the big winner of the story!

Sad Sunday (Books? Me?!? NEVER!!!) "How long before Robin and Matthew get a divorce?"

I am giving it 2 minutes. Anyone gives more?

(I think the wedding was here for a drama - Rowling will have more to write about if there will be a divorce among some murder mystery).

It was so disappointing to find out how Rowling decided to continue the story since fans of the books came up with so much more imressive ways for it to happen...
Also I find it such a turn off for the Matthew - Robin drama to continue in another book + having so much drama around the main characters of a crime novel isn't exactly my favourite thing!

Sad Sunday (Books? Me?!? NEVER!!!) Well, I try to keep optimistic - Rowling still might pull something from her sleeve. And I love drama! It's Strike and Robin drama, Matthew is just a fly that buzzes around on a hot summer day... :D On a sarcastic note - Rowling said it might be a more than four volumes in the series, so we might still get to the big drama when fans will have to guess who's the daddy of the Robins child is (unexpected pregnancy is the the most dramatic thing ever). (Jeeeesus, I hope not :D). But Matt is a jerk. A major one.

Katerina Sad wrote: "Well, I try to keep optimistic - Rowling still might pull something from her sleeve. And I love drama! It's Strike and Robin drama, Matthew is just a fly that buzzes around on a hot summer day... :..."

A little of drama is ok but I can't say that I can handle more of the same drama as in the previous three books! It doesn't really matter if there will be 4 more or 14 more books I need a change of scenery and the Robin - Matthew wedding isn't giving me exactly that! I have enough of his bitching around about her job and I have enough of her spending her time annoyed with him!
As for the child drama you described in that case there are plenty mexican telenovelas out there from which I can choose to watch instead of loosing my time reading one! ;-)
Me as many other people out there lost hours of their lifes imagining and guessing what will follow Robin's "I do" and I feel so very pissed that it was given through the tv-series and it was nothing extraordinary she could just have written 2-3 more pages into Career of Evil and end the ceremony as in the episode! I also hated the end because of how Cormoran was left looking like a tit with the pair smiling at him! Can't say I'm keen to read what I watched last Sunday on tv!

message 111: by Sad (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sad Sunday (Books? Me?!? NEVER!!!) Well, I don't think that hours were "lost" because you never know what turn author might choose to take - and it's always fun to speculate a little but personally it didn't change much for me as a reader. I liked the series so far, and I am curious to find out what will happen next. And we still don't know when the Lethal White is coming out. Yes, wedding was "ruined" for the readers, and I get your annoyance, but because it didn't happen as I expected won't make me angry.
Well, choosing new series to read might help with the pain :/

Katerina Sad wrote: "Well, I don't think that hours were "lost" because you never know what turn author might choose to take - and it's always fun to speculate a little but personally it didn't change much for me as a ..."

Actually my annoyance comes from what I saw that wasn't at all how things were while I read the book and that I can see where the opening pages of Lethal White are leading...
I'm sure that Rowling will say that the only reason for Robin's sadness was that she lost her job and it had nothing to do with the man she was about to marry! And it's so damn unrealistic to be so unhappy the day you marry the man you love only because you got fired! She turned so bright and shinny to see Cormoran there because that meant she got her job back and finally she could enjoy becoming mrs. Cunliffe and exiting the church leaning on his shoulder like a every proud and happy wifey! Damn that was lame to watch and I can't imagine how it would be to read so I'll pass!

Graham Watson Time to pull the plug on Mathew and get to the real story with Robin and Strike

I like it, and you know either Robin or Strike (or both!) would be suspects!

Katerina Via Twitter Rowling announced that soon there's a publication date for her fourth book... I only wanted to share that at first I was very excited about the fourth book but after watching the tv-series sadly I'm not interested a bit about the fourth instalment of the Strike book series. The marriage between Robin and Matthew was such an unticlimax for me that made me not want to read any further... I wish my best luck to those who will continue reading!

I love your insult! "Douchecanoe" I am going to have to use that! And for reals, she better not have married him!

message 122: by Becky (last edited Jul 15, 2018 07:00PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Becky Logan It's too bad Robin couldn't have just pushed the wedding out further, that's what her mother should've added as an option when she gave her the money. Encouraging her to make a quick decision won't have a good outcome. Pushing the wedding out further and then it just not happening would've been great IMO. Hopefully Matthew isn't in any more of the books much if at all, I can't stand him.

message 123: by Jayy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jayy Hopefully they won’t be married. I can’t stand Matthew’s insecurity about Robin’s employment.

Katerina If you have any ideas I would be happy to read your comments! :-)

message 125: by Olivia (new) - rated it 5 stars

Olivia I really hope the next book doesn't begin with them married :( I can't deal reading about how dreadful Matthew is for another book. Surely Robin's smart enough to know that if the only thing that makes her smile on her wedding day is the sight of Strike, she shouldn't commit herself to Matthew forever.

Matthew's so controlling and unpleasant, but I can't even enjoy hating him because I just want Robin to wake up and get out. I can't believe she went back to him.

Natalie Hi Everyone!
So, Lethal White is out....has anyone read it?
I've just finished! Anyone want to discuss the Robin/ Matthew/Strike drama? :)

Gabriella Yes pls 😀, I loved it, It really makes sens to me, Robin needed time to fall out of love with Matthew.

message 128: by Bii (new) - rated it 4 stars

Bii Completely agree, Gabriella! Though I wish it had happened sooner. Robin was stuck with that horrible man for years.

I think you are lost. Very lost.

Kressel Housman I just watched the TV series. Americans, you can get it on YouTube for $12.99. I wasn't crazy about Robin and Cormoran as a couple in the books because I thought it would be bad for their detective work, but after seeing the chemistry between the actors, I'm sold.

Jenny To be honest, I'm amazed they made it to the altar with all their issues... nevermind a divorce.

They can always change the plot in the t.v. show, they may be more involved there but not in the books...look at all the changes with the HP movies.

I wish Robin had not gone back to Matthew but when your family spends so much money on a wedding, it is hard to let them down. I know someone who went ahead and got married for that reason, while we can say that wasn't a smart idea, it is hard to end the relationship so close to the wedding.

I do hope Robin and Cormoran stay friends, it would completely change the dynamic between them if they got emotionally (and physically) involved.
