I've managed to mislay my Spring Challenge book so until I find it I'm enjoying a couple of short reads by Kate DiCamillo. I started following her page on Facebook because her posts are so whimsical and heartfelt and are now discovering that her books are much the same. She sure knows how to pull on the heartstrings. I'm reading The Tale of Despereaux right now.

I've heard Flora and Ulysses: The Illuminated Adventures is good. I will get to it sooner or later.
I enjoyed The Trap by Melanie Raabe, now I'm reading her 2nd, The Stranger, even better, I'm thinking
The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood - the one?
In my opinion, the majority of books are better than the movie or TV series :)

Yes, thanks, that's the one 😊
S.M. wrote: "I'm reading The Handmaid's Tale - so far, its better than the TV series"I have read this book twice. I have seen the film but haven't watched the mini series. The source material is almost always best and it is in this case. IMHO. My favourite dystopian novel.

Agree with you Brenda. Always go to the source,

I agree. This book had me absolutely sobbing. It was a 5 Star read and I couldn’t pick up another book for days - which is very significant! I haven’t loved any of her other books quite like this one.
I,refused to,watch the movie or the mini series because I don’t want to destroy my memory of this experience.
And that's how I feel too Sally - especially a particularly good book!

Glad you enjoyed it so much - I'm about 6 episodes into the tv series but don't think I'll bother with the rest of it - I want to read the whole story

I would usually agree and I loved this book but I have to say the tv series was phenomenal.
I am currently working my way through all of Heather Rose's work. She is my new favourite Australian author I think.
Just starting Godsgrave
by Jay Kristoff. Just look at that beautiful cover!
I wish he didn't use the c word in the first few pages though. Hope it isn't the start of a trend.

I have to agree with Brenda on this one, Phrynne.
Then the additional c word would sink the ship for me. =o(

Looking forward to this one 😊"I’m next in the queue for this at the library!
Currently I’m reading
Secrets Between Friends by Fiona Palmer - loving it!
I'm really late to the party with this one. I'm reading Big Little Lies it's so funny and so relatable even though my youngest was in kindy many, many years ago.

Thanks to Veronica :) I've just started The Inaugural Meeting of the Fairvale Ladies Book Club and enjoying it
I've just started A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle. This is an award winning children's classic. It was written around 1962 so I'll be interested to see how it stands up.
Marianne wrote: "Thanks to Veronica :) I've just started The Inaugural Meeting of the Fairvale Ladies Book Club and enjoying it"My pleasure Marianne. Seeing as I've only just read Big Little lies I'll probably get to this one in another two years. I need to retire 😉
Dale wrote: "I am also reading that one Marianne and enjoying it so far."Yes, Dale, me too. Loving the characters and the setting. And when she mentioned Royal Alexandra Hospital and the Weston Biscuit factory, it brought back memories of my time at Sydney Uni and my sister working at Westons :)
Yes, many of the Sydney references and landmarks bring back memories. And love the setting of the Northern Territory which I have never seen.
Dale wrote: "Yes, many of the Sydney references and landmarks bring back memories. I've got a couple of others to read first, but will be trying to get to The Inaugural Meeting of the Fairvale Ladies Book Club next!
Starting The Leisure Seeker by Michael ZadoorianThis has been on my TBR pile for years but want to read it now its being made into a movie starring Helen Mirren and Donald Sutherland.

I have books on my shelf that I want to read before I see the movie and hence have never got to see the movie because the books are still unread.

LOL, same!
Currently reading Ache by Eliza Henry Jones and The Museum of Modern Love and The Butterfly Man by Heather Rose. One is by my bed, one I keep in my hand bag and the other is on audio in the car. Just wondering how you all highlight the book titles you post so the link is live? Forgive my ignorance.
DM, at the top of the comment box is an add book/ author tag. Tap it and enter book title in pop up box and add.
