Really love that series Brenda and this one is as good if not better than the others - lots of interesting interpersonal dynamics when Kim gets separated from her team!

I am juggling two; Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman which is so good I have rationed myself to not more than one myth a day, so, to keep myslef in rading matter I have just started The Last Painting of Sara de Vos which is for my personal 'art education' challenge as well as the Autumn challenge.

I've just started Holding the Man
I've just started the non-fiction book
The Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America's Shining Women by Kate Moore.Only a few pages in but already it's a fascinating and chilling account of the girls who were hired to paint the numbers on clocks and watches and the dials for ships and planes in New Jersey in 1917. The radium dust that they mixed into a paint got everywhere, all over the studio and all over the girls. The girls themselves would glow in the dark room when they went in to check their handiwork. They were also required to put the radium paint brushes in their mouths to form an extra fine point for painting the dials. OMG!!!

I just started reading an epic fantasy set in Adelaide: The Shadow of What Was Lost, by Aussie author James Islington.
I've finished book 12 of the zombie/military Arisen series, now waiting for the wonderful author to finish writing book 13 and publishing it! LOL Meanwhile, I've started a stand-alone book by another author I love, Stuart MacBride
I'm about half way through a very entertaining book, The Starlings by Aussie author Vivienne Kelly, a novel about a family about to implode told from the viewpoint of an eight year old boy.

BTW, do you need a copy of A Kiss from Mr Fitzgerald? Left you a comment....
Thanks for asking Marianne. A couple of weeks ago I would have said yes but it's in my May challenge so I've bought the kindle edition already. Sorry I didn't see your comment.
I'm currently reading Mortal Engines by Philip Reeve, about half way through at the moment and it is quite enjoyable.

I've just started reading Kill the Next One by Federico Axat, my first Argentinian (I think) author. I hope it lives up to the hype.
Not sure what I last posted. But I just finished A Lover's Lament by K.L. Grayson & BT Urruela. Amazing work, as always. Just great. I am continuing with Dragonfly in Amber, which has been taking me ages, only because I keep reading all of my friends' books. I love Outlander so much, though! Lol. Speaking of friends... I have also started Always You by Belle Brooks.
Check out Cassandra
by Kathryn Gossow. She really has a gift for getting the feel for a setting without the boring descriptions. Aussie country town girl who can predict the future (a bit like Cassandra of Troy, you see)reply | edit | delete | flag *

Currently reading
The Ice Beneath Her by Camilla Grebe. The book was originally written in Swedish. It's really excellent so far. Got through ¾ of it in one sitting! I think I'm getting my reading back on course.

Oooh this sounds excellent! Amazingly enough, my local library has it! Yeah!!
Read The Rock Orchard in the last 24 hours. A good way into The Bucolic Plague: How Two Manhattanites Became Gentlemen Farmers: An Unconventional Memoir and thoroughly enjoying it.
I just bought The Cuckoos Calling! I've heard mixed opinions on this book, but since I love crime and JK Rowling, I thought I'd see for myself :)

I'm really enjoying my library copy of Strange the Dreamer
, it doesn't have this amazing cover
, but the contents more than make up for it...
I need something easy for my flight today, so I'm finally starting After You by Jojo Moyes. I don't care if I cry.

I'm reading The Mapmaker Chronicles by A.L. Tait, a book for younger readers, as I'm going to be seeing her in person at an author talk this Thursday. I'm also reading Strange The Dreamer by Laini Taylor, which is weird but also quite wonderful - half way through and loving the language and imagery.

I am currently reading
by Deborah MoggachIt is a fictionised story of Seventeenth century Amsterdam where Jan Van Loos (who seems to be loosely based on Jacob Van Loos, an actual painter) is doing a portrait of a successful merchant and his much younger, second wife. The artist and the wife fall in love...
The author does well at bringing the era to life, (including the obsession with tulips and the fortunes associated with them) and using art descriptively. The nice plate reproductions of golden age Dutch masters to illustrate the lifestyle is also good, though I am mystified as to why there is not a single Jan Van Loos among them.
Despite all the good things going for it I am so far a bit ambivalent about the book. The short chapters (Seriously? Two pages is NOT a chapter) and shifting points of view jar on me/ Also it is a bit too heavy on the romance for my taste.
