I've just finished The Four Legendary Kingdoms by Matthew Reilly. Hands down, my favourite read of 2016 and will probably remain so despite there being another month or so left. There are some massive surprises in this one for his fans.

I just finished The Heart of Henry Quantum by Pepper Harding - quicker than I thought I would. Unfortunately it didn't go my way.Marianne, read my review when you've finished but I'm interested to know what you think.
I'm now listening to a children's book The Midnight Zoo by Sonya Hartnett - anything by Sonya Hartnett should be good.
Brenda wrote: "Loved Spirits of the Ghan and Out of the Ice Mish :) Happy reading!"Brenda, still going with Out of the Ice but Wow! It's very good and so early on in the book!! I'm on the edge of my seat with nervous tension.

Yes. The ending completely surprised me, and I am good at getting ahead. It's a 5 star book, but I haven't yet worked out how to review it without giving too much away.
:)

Just enclose it in a spoiler tag if you're not sure :) I'm sure brief would do as there are a lot of reviews out there already..

Ryan wrote: "Looks like I'm the only person left who hasn't read Pride and Prejudice but now I'm on point."I've enjoyed a few Austens, but I have to admit it took me 3 years to read P&P. Good luck with it, Ryan

It's lovely book Sally but also sad. It's during war time so it can be a bit upsetting seeing the kids and animals go hungry and doing it tough.
I love Sonya Hartnett books. I haven't read the one you have but no doubt I will some day - I'm slowing getting through her collection :)
Ryan wrote: "Looks like I'm the only person left who hasn't read Pride and Prejudice but now I'm on point."Congratulations Ryan! Once you finish you'll be able to watch the movies, the TV series, the spin-offs, reimagined novels and sequels!
I'm reading The Whites by Harry Brandt. It's about a group of detectives (most now retired), each haunted by a murderer who was never convicted that they can't forget.

That one was discussed at a Tuesday BookClub last year I think Carolyn. I borrowed it from the library then had to return it as I ran out of time. Hope you're enjoying it...I know lots of others have :)

Palimpsest by Catherynne M. Valente. Not sure if I am reading it or imagining it. It is seriously weird.
Hi all, I have recently purchased two books from my local bookstore on Tamborine Mountain. The first one is called - 'Goodbye to Italia' which is a true story set in Italy and Africa during World War Two.' I haven't met the author but I believe she lives nearby to where I live so this makes the book even more special. The second book (I went to the book launch - my very first!!) is Sally-Anne Atkinson's book 'No Job for a Woman'. As someone who was born and has always lived in and around Brisbane, this is of special interest to me, however I think that many Australian readers will also be interested in this book due to the fact that SallyAnne was not only the Lord Mayor of Brisbane but was also a trailblazer for working mothers and built a high-profile national career while raising five children.
Looking forward to reviewing both these books. Lea Davey (Goodreads Author)

A great read IMO Maureen!

I was looking for an easy read and found the first Agatha Raisin on my kindle so am starting that - plus it fulfils a few challenges which is an added and surprising bonus The Quiche of Death by M.C. Beaton
I've just started listening to the audio book of Captive Queen: A Novel of Eleanor of Aquitaine and it just seems to be full of sex. Has anyone else here read it?
Two of my other GR friends whose opinions I value have also called it a 'bodice-ripper'. It's so unlike Weir to write like this as she is a respected non-fiction writer. The only reason why, that I can think of, is that by all accounts, Eleanor and Henry did have a very physical and tempestuous relationship. I've taken it off my lists.

I started this a while back and put it aside for another and then it ended up being packed into the shipping container. I'm planning on finishing it before the end of the year. Glad you enjoyed it.
Have just finished Laurinda by Alice Pung, a thoughtfully written novel of politics in a private all girls school. Just started The Good People and I can already tell I'm going to love it.
