Too long:( But that's just me - I think everyone else likes it!

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments I got this The Girl in Green a little while ago but couldn't resist for long... 100 pages in and I can say that the author of Norwegian by Night, Derek B. Miller's latest book is coming right up to scratch so far

Mish | 3600 comments I just finished 2 amazing Australian novels

Spirits of the Ghan by Judy Nunn - Intriguing story, with adorable characters. Really enjoyed reading about the Aboriginal culture and their spiritual connection to the land. And I appreciate how Nunn didn’t get too technical with the construction of the Ghan railway. - 4 Stars

Love Song by Nikki Gemmell - Magnificent writer! Her prose took my breath away. Heartbreaking love story of a young lady trying to break free from a religious cult. And it kind of had a gothic feel to it too. 5 Stars

Mish | 3600 comments Now I'm about to start 2 more Australian novels (AWW too!) -

Out of the Ice by Ann Turner
Viral by Helen Fitzgerald

Ryan I just started 2015 Booker prize winner A Brief History of Seven Killings. Pretty wild so far. I can't tell if I love it or hate it.

Mish | 3600 comments Has anyone read The Chemist by Stephenie Meyer yet? It's hard to find a decent review here on GR, they're just comment about the author and not about the book. I was browsing the bookshops today, and saw it there.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments I am REALLY enjoying The Girl in Green. Was not sure I'd like s story set in the Middle East, but there's plenty of humour in amongst the serious issues. Shaping up to be a 5★ read for me

No worries Marianne, I'm in no hurry.

I only just checked and realised it's released date was 2 days ago. So that explains why there's hardly any reviews! Silly me ;)

Going back to this post, I may have put Viral on hold, and pick up another book. I'm listening to it on Audio and the narrator is Scottish, with a thick Scottish accent. I can't understand a word she's saying LOL!

Sally906 | 86 comments I hadn't even heard she had written a new one - I have enjoyed her other books - but this looks like a departure from her previous stuff.

It is a departure Sally. This is an adult crime novel. I enjoyed her other books too. I was expecting her to come out with the sequel to The Host next.

I really enjoyed the Host - hated the movie though.

message 927: by Mish (new)

Mish | 3600 comments So do I ladies, loved, loved the book!! I liked it better than the Twilight series.

Wow! that bad Sally. What a shame after she had so much success with the Twilight movie.

I'm sure it will come back to you Phrynne - that's if she ever writes the sequel. I think I'm okay, I can remember the plot, and the ending but don't asked me about names and/or specifics scenes from the book.

message 928: by Mish (new)

Hi Kiera

you read two books at once? How do you do that? I like to read one book at a time so I stay in the 'zone' of that particular story. I've always admired people who can read more than one book at a time.

*shrugs* not sure. I just can. Lol. It's a bit like flipping the channel on the television, I suppose.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments I always have two books on the go: my main read and a bedside book that doesn't require too much concentration.

message 941: by Tango (new)

Tango | 290 comments Less than 100 pages of Moby Dick to go! It's been a slog. In the meantime I've just finished a YA novel Destroying Avalon which was a very readable book about the effects of cyber bullying.

Ah, okay, THAT I can understand! I've been known to watch two TV shows at once - I keep flipping between them during the ads - drives Mum crazy!

Now, see, if my main book was really interesting, there is no way I could turn to another book until it's finished! The only time I've done it, its because the first book is one I couldn't finish for whatever reason, so i choose another book.

message 945: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn | 9836 comments I'm currently reading Swing Time by Zadie Smith and enjoying it very much. The only other book of hers I've read of hers is White Teeth and I struggled a bit with that but this one is so far very flowing and readable.
