Isis | 5021 comments Molly nodded her head, "Me too," she replied to his insomniac statement, "I sleep like two or three hours a night, if I get any sleep at all. I strangely almost never feel tired though, physically at least." She listened to the response he gave about his parents. She really couldn't believe that they would let him throw such raging parties. He was lucky to have such lenient parents.

"I wish my dad would go out of town without me every once in a while. He would never ever let me throw a party though. I don't think he even likes me to have friends. He would prefer if I just stayed in my room, only coming out to go to school and hunt. I think we probably pass like three words per week that aren't about hunting, unless he's mad. He has all sorts of words when he's mad. Luckily for me, I've learned what ticks him off and I can avoid the anger now." She sighed softly.

message 52: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments Molly shrugged, "Honestly, at this point, it's not worth it. He's a man obsessed and he never actually wanted kids. He's a hunter, not a family man, and I'm not going to be the one to change that, even if I am his daughter. Plus, he's not exactly a great guy that I want to spend a lot of time with anyway. You know what I mean? Oh, probably not, but still. He's my father, but he's never been my daddy or anything. I've called him 'Sir' since I have been able to talk, and that's it. Weird, I know, but I almost like it better than having to have a conversation with him."

She glanced over at him. She knew she was probably freaking him out, but he was really the only person she could tell. He couldn't run off an gossip about her because then he would have to admit he was a werewolf and she was a hunter, which wouldn't be good for him at all.

message 53: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments "My parents didn't even want me, let alone more kids," Molly told him, "Though I always wished I had siblings. Because we move so much I don't really get to make lasting friends, but if I had a sibling it would be easier. Built in friend, kind of. But, no. I probably would have been an abortion had my mother realized she was pregnant sooner. It was practically one of those case of 'I didn't know I was pregnant', or so I've been told. Got lucky to be alive, I guess." She shrugged her shoulders like she was unsure about this last part. She was far from depressive or suicidal but she did sometimes wonder what her parents' lives would have been without her, and what her life would have been without them.

"Basically, weirdest childhood ever though. It was just me most of the time. I've been left home alone since I was a toddler, but I had a nanny up until about age 4 I'd say. She was really nice, from what I could remember, but she started to catch on to my parents' real careers and had to be let go. From then on it was just training to be a hunter, training to keep my mouth shut, moving all the time, and spending a lot of time alone. I'm my own best friend." She laughed lightly.

message 54: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments "There's really only one other person my age. His name is Paul and he's honestly one of the worst people I've ever met. He's a complete jerk and he's always grabbing me, making inappropriate comments, and he's not even the least bit attractive. Oh wait, you know him, my lab partner. I'm pretty much supposed to marry that guy since it's better to marry within the community and all," Molly grimaced. "He's been a jerk since we were little kids. He peed on all my dolls, randomly, for no reason at all. Like, what the heck?"

She could see Colten's house up in the distance now. They would be there in only a few minutes and she now realized she was probably being quite annoying with all her talking. "Anyway, sorry. You didn't want to hear all that information."

message 55: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments "As much as I would prefer you as a lab partner, I don't think it's a good idea. We shouldn't draw attention to ourselves and we should definitely not start being seen as friends or anything. The more people who know we spent time together, the easier it is for one of them to figure out something weird is going on, especially Paul. One time of you paying him off is fine, but more than that would spark something in his mind," Molly told him, though she found she was actually kind of disappointed to be turning him down.

"You're not stupid, I just have some anger issues, I guess. Sorry for punching you, that's just my go-to response sometimes," she shrugged her shoulders then pulled up to his house. "Good luck with all the clean up. I would help but I better get home before he notices."

message 56: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments Molly watched him walk away, feeling almost sad. For some reason she really wished that she had a reason to call out after him, make him come back. Of course though, she didn't. She had no reason to do anything but go home, and she knew that she had to before it was too late. Plus, she'd already talked his ear off and it wasn't as if she could think of any favor to ask of him. So, she sighed softly and pulled out of his driveway and then headed for home. She snuck in easily enough, took her shower, then got into her bed, though she couldn't sleep, of course.

message 57: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments ((I like the saving thing, you want to start? Or me?))

message 58: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments Molly was suddenly a little uncertain about hunting. She hadn't been out since almost killing Colten and she had had a lot to think about since then. These were people too, not just wolves, and that was hard to take in. Yet, she knew she still had to do her job. She had been raised to do this and she was good at it, so she would hunt.

She ran her fingers through her hair with her free hand, holding her gun to her side with her other hand. She sighed softly. It had been pretty boring so far this evening. She had her ears and eyes open though. And now, she was starting to hear some things. Animals, definitely animals, and big ones. Wolves, more than likely. She cocked her gun and turned around. Immediately she could see a huge, hulking wolf through a patch of trees. She ducked down and set her site, but the wolf had caught her scent. She would have to be quick. Except, now she heard something behind her. She turned to look. She was surrounded.

message 59: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments Molly tried to make her usual escape, up a tree, but she twisted her ankle on a root and fell onto the floor. She heard a growl and then a wolf was pouncing right next to her. She tried to point her gun but she wasn't quick enough because the weapon had fallen from her hand, and was know pushed further away by a large wolf paw. She gulped and looked up into the wolf's face. He couldn't possibly kill a teenage girl? Could he? His eyes told her that he most definitely could, and would. She stayed as still as she could and hoped that one of the wolves would trip up just enough for her to get away.

message 60: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments Molly was beyond shocked when another wolf barreled out of the trees and knocked away the wolf that had been directly threatening her. Soon the other wolves were leaving and she was able to breathe.

"I-um, yeah, thank you," Molly said, though she was a little shaken up. "I guess I really messed up somewhere. I've never been in a position like that before...I think that guy was really going to kill me..." She took in a long, shaky breath. "Really though, thank you, I know you're going to be in a huge amount of trouble for that."

message 61: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments Molly listened to him talk but then, before she could stop herself, she was flying forward and hugging onto him tight. "Thank you," she said again, "I hate to admit it, but I was actually scared that I was about to lose my life." She realized what she was doing and pulled back. "Sorry. I don't know what came over me. Thanks. I'm going to go home I think...I don't really want to be out here anymore. I can't believe I messed up so badly." She ran a hand up through her hair and let out a shaky sigh. She was such a fool.

message 62: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments "You probably shouldn't let them see you with me anymore..." Molly said softly, suddenly remembering that she had just hugged a wolf. They shouldn't associate out here anymore or else the other wolves and hunters would realize something was up. "I'll be alright. I'm a better hunter than I have showed so far. I won't let this happen again. Thanks again," she said, and tried to give him a reassuring smile. She bit her lower lip just a little bit then turned and started to run off. She was just going to get to her car and go home as quickly as possible...and hope to avoid her father.

message 63: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments Molly sighed when she followed after. She really should have known that he would do that. So, she swallowed and looked around to try and pick up any noise. "It's not your pack I'm worried about seeing us, it's my dad," she told him softly. "I don't know where he is and there's no way that we'll see him before he sees us. If your dad finds out, well, he finds out and you deal with it. If my dad finds out though, then we're both going to be in big trouble. Ok? So, I'll just see you at school. The less time I spend with you, the better for us both." She once again tried out the smile, and failed. She didn't want to stay away from him. She felt her stomach flutter just looking at him and she wanted to feel that all the time, but it just couldn't happen.

message 64: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments "And what? What will we tell him?" Molly asked. "He'll know you're not my friend because I never have friends. He'll know you're not my boyfriend because, well that'll be obvious after watching us for a few minutes. Plus, why would you be out here in the woods with me unless we were hooking up or something? That wouldn't be any easier to explain than the whole wolf thing." She sighed and shook her head. "It just won't work," she shrugged, "And really, why do you care so much?"

message 65: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments "No, not okay. That's a terrible answer," Molly told him, not sure why he was refusing to answer such a small question. "I'm going to go now," she shrugged, "I'll see around maybe." She started walking in the direction of her again, though she wanted to run. Running would make her feel like she was escaping this awkward tension between them. She really needed to stay away from him, even though she didn't want to. She never had. She'd had a stupid school girl crush since day one, as she had already admitted to him.

message 66: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments Molly, oblivious as always, didn't even take his words to mean that he actually liked her. "Well, I mean, I like talking to you too," she told him, continuing to walk because she just didn't see his point. "You're the only one who knows what I am so I can just be myself, but it's just not worth it to become close. I'm going to be gone before you know it. I'm sure you have plenty of other friends to talk to." She could see her car now so she walked a little bit faster.

message 67: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments Molly stopped dead in her tracks when he clarified himself. She had to have heard him wrong or something. She turned around slowly to look at him, confusion written all over her face. "What?" she asked him, her voice softer and quieter than usual. She really just wasn't comprehending him. "No," she finally said, and shook her head, "You don't like me, not like that anyway. It's silly. It's just because I told you that I had a stupid little crush on you. You don't have to worry about that. There are much prettier, and less hunter-involved girls all around here."

message 68: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments Molly rolled her eyes at that last bit. "Colten," she said softly, looking down at her toes. "We can't do this. It's bad enough that I'm only going to be in toe for a short time, but it's worse that we're practically sworn enemies. I mean, you're incredibly attractive and I really enjoy spending time with you, but we'd be fools to let ourselves like each other this way. Wouldn't we be?" She ran her hand up through her hair and did everything not to look at him. If she looked at him she would fall into the trap that was liking him, and admitting it.

message 69: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments Molly felt a shiver run through her entire body as his fingers slipped under her chin and she was forced to look at him. Just as she suspected, as soon as their eyes met it was hard not to completely melt against him. "Try..." she mumbled softly before shaking her head and clearing her throat. She looked away a little so that she could get her thoughts in order. "Alright, I mean, I guess we can try...but we have to be really careful, Colten. Romeo and Juliet both died in the end and I don't want that to be us." She looked back into his eyes and shrugged shyly.

message 70: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments "Well I'm supposed to be hunting again tomorrow. It'll be hard to get away but I'll try to. I can't let my dad know that I'm um, going on a date or anything. I'm practically engaged to that one jerk, remember? So, he would never let me date anyone. I'll try coming up with some excuse to get away, but it's going to be hard," Molly told him then bit at her lower lip lightly. "I wish this could just be normal." She sighed and looked down at their linked hands.

message 71: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments "I'm a hunter and my dad is a psycho, so all I ever do is hunt. It's escape while hunting, or don't escape at all. So, we'll just have to hope I can get away," Molly said, pulling out her cell phone. "I supposed it's alright to ask for your phone number now, huh?" She gave him a smile and passed over the phone. "I'll let you know if I think I can make it happen. Alright? And you decide what exactly we're going to do and where we're going to meet."

message 72: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments Molly rolled her eyes, "Oh shush," she told him. She was never one to take compliments, because she never really got them. She pushed his shoulder lightly then started to pull him in the direction of her car. "I'm going to head home. Do you need a ride anywhere?" she glanced at him and raised and eyebrow. She was just trying to keep it cool because her heart felt like it was going to flutter out of her chest at any minute. She never thought that this would actually happen. She was going to go on a date with pretty much the hottest guy in school.

message 73: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments "I don't have to get home," Molly told him, "I just don't want to be out in the woods. There's the danger of my father seeing us and you, the fact that I almost got killed tonight." She had almost forgotten because of what just happened, but now that she recalled it made her skin crawl. "And as for you driving, we'll see. I'm not sure I can trust your driving skills," she teased him before stepping through the door he held open for her.

message 74: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments "Well you wanted a burger, so, care if I join you? I must warn you though, I'm not one of those girls who is going to order a salad just because I'm with a boy. I like to eat food," Molly told him. She started up the car then looked at him. "So, if I haven't scared you too badly, I'm going to need some directions. I haven't exactly been out much since I got into town."

message 75: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments "You tell me," Molly said, "Though, I kind of want the best burger possible. So, it's up to you but I better get a good burger either way." She stuck her tongue out at him playfully then waited for the decision to be made. She didn't care where they went, honestly, as long as they were together. It was so sappy and strange, but in a good way. It was nice just to be allowed to like him.

message 76: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments Molly giggled then started off in the direction that he pointed out. "This food better be good if you're making me drive all this way," she teased him, though really she had always enjoyed driving and he was a good companion to have in the car. "So, tell me more about Colten," she mused, "I've done all the talking so far and that's simply not fair to either one of us."

message 77: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments Molly turned left at the light then glanced over at him. "A werewolf who volunteers at an animal shelter? Interesting, and somehow kind of ironic. I wish I had time to do that though. And I also wish I could cook, but I'm more an eater than a chef. Are you and your mother any good at it? You'll have to let me try something some time. And what color blue, exactly? Why not all blue? For instance, I love red, but I love all shades and varieties of red." She stuck her tongue out at him playfully.

message 78: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments It was hard not to laugh when he brought up the fact that all the cats hated him. She could imagine it perfectly and it was hilarious. "Well, alright I can see that. My favorite red is that deep, dark, almost black red...you know, like blood. I know that's terrible, but it's just beautiful. And as for your fabulous cooking, I'm going to have to request you sneak me some leftovers some time. I don't get a lot of home cooked anything at my house so I'll love it no matter what it is, as long as you're not lying about your skill," Molly giggled.

message 79: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments "You can have my combo if you want. There's nothing important in there and nothing worth hiding," Molly told him. "Remind me later and I'll write it down or text it to you, but I do expect you to have some food waiting for me in there every once in a while." She looked at him very seriously for a minute then laughed lightly. "But really though? You don't like math? Math is the best. It's so simple and there's only one black and white answer. Plus, it's the only universal language."

message 80: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments "Alright, we'll agree to disagree on math then," Molly giggled softly, "But please tell me we're close to the food. I'm starving. I will die soon if I don't get some sustenance." She was always a dramatic person, though only in a joking way. She had very few female friends because she didn't like actual drama in the slightest. She just couldn't understand it for the life of her.

message 81: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments "What a quaint little name for a restaurant," Molly said, though she supposed it shouldn't surprise her. She had spent her whole life traveling to different towns, seeing all sorts of quaint restaurants in quaint towns. Those were always the towns that had the wolves, after all, because they were always the furthest out near the woods with the greatest space. "From experience I know that the restaurants with real people's names tend to be the best. They don't want to be embarrassed by bad food I guess," she smiled. She was smiling too much.

message 82: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments Molly parked the car then turned to him as he asked his question. "Something cliche with you?" she asked, "Well I do tend to enjoy doing cliche things, but what exactly do you have in mind?" She raised her eyebrows at him, then wiggled them for good measure. She couldn't remember the last time she had felt this free, or happy for that matter. She hadn't joked in forever but it was just coming naturally now.

message 83: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments Molly clutched at her heart dramatically. "Oh the cliches!" she practically squealed, "They're all around me now. A milkshake with two straws. A man holding my door open for me. It's like a romance from a story book." She giggled and climbed out of the car. "Really though, I know how to open my own door. I know it's surprising, but it's true. I can also chew my own food so don't worry about that, but we can definitely share that shake. It's every girl's fantasy after all."

message 84: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments "Um, hello," Molly said, reverting back to her shy self as the woman spoke to her. Colten obviously came here a lot, if he was a pleasant surprise, and she suddenly didn't know if she would be welcome. Sure, the woman had smiled at her, but most people smiled while working in a restaurant because that was how the service industry worked. She swallowed hard and did her best not to just look at her toes. She wanted to fit in, she really did.

message 85: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments Molly's cheeks lit up with a blush as Colten made his comment about their not being just friends. She wasn't used to someone being so open about their relationship with her, friends or otherwise. But, she manged to muster a smile and turn toward Sally Mae as she asked her question. "I'd love an iced tea," she told the woman, "Thank you."

message 86: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments Molly's cheeks flared even darker. How had she not seen how sweet he was before? "I-I, um, yes, it was okay. I'm just not used to someone being um, proud of me, I guess," she said. She rubbed at her cheeks to try and make the blush go away, but she was really only making it worse. "I'm sorry I'm acting like such a silly school girl," she sighed, "I just can't seem to help myself all of a sudden. You're just...you, you know?"

message 87: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments "Oh I'm not afraid of a little mess," Molly replied to him then turned to Sally Mae, "I'll take what he's having. Sounds amazing." She gave the woman a smile then turned back to Colten as the woman walked away. "She's really nice. I'm surprised she's waiting the table though. You must be pretty special, or at least a regular," she bit at her lower lip. "If it's as good as you claim, I might become a regular too."

message 88: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments "If by haven't dated much you mean haven't dated at all, then you're right. I have never been on a real date, until now I guess," Molly laughed. "I'm not hot enough to get a guy's attention without really working for it, and I don't. Plus, yeah, Paul. He's all over every girl like that, but with me he knows he can get away with it. It just has to be that way or else he'll cause a whole fuss. So, don't worry about it. Just hope he leaves us alone."

message 89: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments "You're sweet, but really, don't do anything. Like I said, I don't want to actually end up like Romeo and Juliet," Molly laughed then took his hand and looked at it. "Why haven't you gone on many dates though? I've had a crush on you pretty much since the second I saw you and your personality is just icing on the cake. You could have your pick of girls. Like literally any girl in school would die to date you. You could have a cheerleader or at least a girl who didn't try to kill you."

message 90: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments Molly let out a loud laugh and shook her head. "You're not serious? You definitely are that great looking. Girls, including myself, are staring at you any chance that they get. You're pretty much the school heart throb. I wish we could tell the whole school just so that I could rub it in every other girl's face that lowly old me got you. You're amazingly handsome."

message 91: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments Molly rolled her eyes, "Alright alright," she said, "Whatever you say, oh great and powerful wolf boy." She stuck her tongue out at him playfully then giggled. "Now, back to talking about you. Tell me every random detail that comes to mind."

message 92: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments Molly licked her lips and wiggled her eyebrows as he lifted his shirt. "Ohh, dinner and a show," she teased before reaching out and touching the scar. "I've got you beat though. Well, when it comes to scars, not abs. You definitely win in the abs department." She winked at him playfully. "But, I can't show you my scars because it would be inappropriate for me to lift my shirt. You know, gender standards and all. Such a shame."

message 93: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments "Well, being a hunter is dangerous, so there are quite a few, but the two main ones are on my back and right here," Molly replied, pointing to a spot right under where her bra ended. "This one was actually a gun shot wound. Paul was a horrible shot when he first started out and there was a 'hunting accident'. The one on my back goes almost all the way down from a wolf's claw. Ripped my favorite shirt to shreds and I'm still bitter about it." She sighed. "Anyway, these injuries are the reason that hunters have their own personal doctor contacts. It would be too awkward to explain in the emergency room."

message 94: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments Molly's eyes went a little wide as she saw the burgers set in front of them. "Oh this looks so good," she said, surprised she wasn't watering at the mouth. She popped a few fries into her mouth and had to keep from practically moaning. They were some of the best fries she had ever had. "I don't know what kind of seasoning is on these, but it's delicious," she told Colten. "So far this is an A+ decision, but how the heck do you eat such a messy burger?"

message 95: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments Molly shrugged then followed his lead, elbows out wide. It was a bit of a struggle to get the burger in her mouth, but it was absolutely delicious once she did. She chewed, moaning softly and nodding her head to indicate just how delicious this burger was. She wiped off her mouth after her fist bite then grinned. "Ok, you were totally right about this place. This is the best burger I have ever had. I'm going to live here from now on. I'm never going to leave, ever."

message 96: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments "But I mean, a proper bed is nice sometimes,"Molly said, "Even just to lay in. So, I think I'll just go get my bed and bring it back here. I'm sure Sally Mae would let me keep it in the back. Sure, I'll get morbidly obese, but that's not a problem for me." She giggled before eating some more of her burger, wondering if fries tasted good in ranch, and listening to his question.

"Well what did you have in mind?" Molly asked him with a raised eyebrow before taking another big bite of her burger. She wasn't sure if there would be really anywhere to go, but she didn't care. She would do pretty much anything with this boy.

message 97: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments "I could go to a park," Molly agreed, nodding her head. Her burger was about half gone as well, but she didn't regret it. She continued to eat at the same quick rate because that was just how she ate. "Is this like a big grass-only park, or a park with playground equipment? I like them either way but I'm just curious, and also a little impatient."

message 98: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments "Well of course we still need the shake," Molly replied, "I never pass up an opportunity to have a milkshake." She then smiled, "Oh, and yes, I do think it is called a pond in that case. Though, most ponds aren't clean enough to swim in because they're stagnant and full of gross ducks. I hate ducks...and all other birds in the whole universe." She wrinkled up her nose to show just how disgusting she found birds to be.

message 99: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments "Seriously. I hate all of them. I mean, hummingbirds are cool from afar but if one comes near me I'll freak out and swat it away. I know I just said that I hated birds, but I'm also terrified of them. I don't know why, so don't bother asking. I have deep seated issues that I don't even understand," Molly giggled. "So, I'm glad that you don't become some kind of bird because I most definitely would not be here. It's bad enough, our situation, already."

message 100: by Isis (new)

Isis | 5021 comments Molly leaned in at the same time, almost bumping his forehead, before she got a hold of her own straw. "Ohhh this is so good," she said, "This is seriously my favorite place ever." She took another sip before going back to the bird issue. "As for the birds, I have no idea why I'm scared, at all. They have done nothing to me. They're just stupid and disgusting and I hate them. Don't judge me."
