To the other admins: did we end up posting these stats somewhere?
Hmmm, I think I might have posted them in a comment somewhere here, but do you think I can remember where that was!?
Elizabeth, it really varied. I think our lowest months (I believe we ended with this number twice) was 39. But, we've also had some up to 200!
I'll see if I can find where I posted those stats...

Thanks, Cindy!! I love the idea of tracking this over time. Very much appreciate your hard work in maintaining this statistic.

What is going to be tricky is when we start repeating tags here on GR. On shelfari, because I was the only person doing the shelf, I added in the year after the tag, and used that... just for the stats. After the month was over, I changed those tags back without the year so they all shelved together under the one tag. It will be harder to do that here with people shelving their own books.
But, we don't have to worry about that for three more years! :-)

Hmmm, I never thought about that, but you are right! Although I guess the initial time it happens, we can count all the book reviews and merely subtract the number from the first go around.

That sounds easier. But I go by "titles" not reviews (all I do is look at the number beside the tag), so if a title was read by more than one person it only counts once. So, if it was read both the first time around and again the second time, it would be missed the second time by being subtracted out. But, we have time to figure something out.

Gotcha! Well at least we would have a number for the new titles . . .which is still something.

It might be the easiest way to go... Or, just for those months, I could work "harder" on the shelf myself. I am double checking everything, anyway, so I could just go ahead and add a separate tag for my own purposes (i.e. for statistical purposes), add them all there, then fix them up after the fact. Really, like I did at shelfari, anyway.

I'd hate for you to have to do extra work. I just really like getting the sense of the trends over time. Which tags are more or less popular. Is the group's overall reading growing or shrinking? I think you help capture that with these statistics.
In case anyone else is interested in stats, I thought I'd post that we read 61 different titles for World War II in February.
Remember, this is individual titles, so there may have been more than one person reading the same title. That 61 doesn't include if a title was read by more than one person.
