Velocity has been selected as our Group Read for April 2016. Velocity was previously featured as a Group Read in 2011 and you can find the old discussion thread in the discussion folder for Koontz's Many Stand-Alone Novels.

This is a new discussion thread for 2016. Are you planning to read Velocity?

Have you read Velocity before?

Nope this is the first time. I haven't read very many of the newer books. My local used bookstore went out of business years (and years and years) ago, so I haven't been buying them like I use to.

I think Velocity is extremely good on first reading, however on re-reading many of the surprises are not as astonishing. It will be interesting to see how I feel this time around. Will be re-reading soon :-)

Velocity is the one I credit for hooking me as a Dean Koontz fan.

I have been re-reading Velocity this week. Will finish today.

I finished Velocity early last week, I just hadn't gotten the chance to visit here to discuss yet. I really enjoyed the book. It wasn't as "gripping" as most of the other Koontz books I read, but it was just as twisted!
First thing I was thinking... (view spoiler)[ Why doesn't he just go to the police already?! I was pretty tripped out about the fact that he was getting rid of bodies for this this guy... I guess in the end it probably was a good thing he never went to the police, there was so much evidence laying around that pointed towards him he would've definitely been found guilty. (hide spoiler)]
I really thought he figured out who the bad guy was (view spoiler)[ and I was really surprised when he (Steven) was such a chicken poop. I thought for sure Steven was the guy!!! Then BAM, Billy figures it out and moves into action, stops the jerk in his place.... only wait, Koontz did it again and throws another curve ball at us!!! It was BOTH of them?!?! I really was on the edge of my seat from that moment on! (hide spoiler)]

This was a definite 4 star for me.
