Lisa, I looked for that question yesterday, this is what I found (looks like you can start now and will count for April if you finish in April):

Books can count for April that are marked as read from April 1, 2016 at 7pm AEDST. (They can be started at anytime from the start of the challenge, i.e. March 1)

I hope you are doing well today! :) Quick Question: does anyone know of any cool challenges that are happening soon, since this one is almost over?"

Rachel, there are a few challenges starting at AAMP Game Night, https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...

Lisa (skottiesgerl) | 94 comments Ok for April and Hand 1, I just started reading While You Were Mine by Ann Howard Creel. So far I can tell it goes with Card 9 (because it takes place in New York.)

message 304: by Lisa (last edited Apr 01, 2016 07:06AM) (new)

Lisa (skottiesgerl) | 94 comments And just to be clear are we done with March? Did we have to complete hand 13 entirely by March 31, to receive the points? Or do we receive the points for the 3 books completed. Mine has not been input yet.
Sorry to be a pain

Ashley | 24 comments I finished Vanishing Acts 2 days ago. I meant to get on here and share that, but I had an extremely busy day Yesterday. I'm sorry it took me so long to get back on here and post anything.

message 306: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 24 comments I'm going to be reading One Plus One by Jojo Moyes which would work for the number 1 of course. :) I am also planning to read The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom which would work for a Skip card.

We have to complete the hand to get the points, so I believe that once Lori updates the spreadsheet, we may have finished that hand?

I know that the captains have a little time to update the spreadsheet after the last day of the month (at least they did last year), so thinking the 3-4 books we posted that aren't in the spreadsheet will still be counted. They just had to be read and marked by the end of the month.

I've been debating reading that one, the mixed reviews have left me waiting.

Dima | 442 comments I finished reading the Goldfinch a couple of days ago too just hadn't had the time to come here and post it.

message 310: by [deleted user] (new)

Sorry guys. I've been unwell over the last couple of days.

I've sent PMs to a few of you to get books on the correct shelf or to get a start date put on.

We've done really well. We've finished all the hands and the March mini-challenge. We also found 12 out of the 20 words for the Easter mini-challenge.

Snowtulip | 834 comments Hope you feel better Pigletto!

Whoo hoo, we're doing great :D

So what was your favorite read of the challenge last month?

Red Rising was mine, which kind of surprised me since the early middle of the book wasn't working for me, but then I was just so invested in those characters by the end!

message 312: by [deleted user] (new)

Ooh! That's a good question.

Mine was Bird Box. Not a gory story like some horror books. Really creepy though.

message 313: by PNJ (new)

PNJ (EmergencyRN) | 25 comments I did Bird Box too Lori and your right. That was a really creepy book!!!!!!!!

message 314: by Snowtulip (new)

Snowtulip | 834 comments So many of my GR friends have also loved Bird Box, but I've been leery of it because I'm not a horror person...can't even watch movies anymore!

message 315: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (veraj121) Misery was my favorite book of the month. With the pop ups of psychological thriller since Gone Girl.Misery for me was the best.

message 316: by PNJ (new)

PNJ (EmergencyRN) | 25 comments I love horror and thriller and usually nothing bothers me. But Bird Box. Yup. That book made me cringe. I don't know if it's on my shelf, but I'm actually writing the review now......and suggesting reading in daylight haha.

Cards: 1 (character surname Olsen), 3 (character surname Harimau), 4 (character surname Ferara), 5 (author name Ilona), 6 (character surname Shrapshire), 8 (8th in series), 9 (character name Nick), Skip (character name Kate)

This is still one of my absolute favorite series. As with every book, I want more Derek, but the next novella is all Derek, so I'll be reading that next! I loved that we had the chance to be introduced to a whole new world of ancient creatures in this one.

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata
The Wall of Winnipeg and Me
4 stars

Cards it fits: 0 (stand alone), 1 (character named Oscar), 2 (title starts with T), 6 (character named Susie), 7 (character named Vanessa), Skip (character surname Prescott)

Slow burn and a man in emotional lockdown...of course I'm going to love it. I loved Aidan and Van, I always want that special woman/man to find the key to breaking into the emotional fortress...it makes me all gooey inside :D

It could have been edited down a bit (some repetition), but I still really enjoyed these characters. Second book from this author, and moving onto the next book of hers soon!

I've been wanting to revisit some of the classics, wondering if I will still love them as much as I did the first time.

Yeah, Snowtulip. I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm going next week, after I finish the other two books I got from the library, to borrow the third book in the series. I'm really excited. I hope, in the end, that Rose and Dimitri get together. :)

Snowtulip | 834 comments I was in the right mood for that type of book and I couldn't sleep (love my kindle)...but hopefully tonight I will get all my beauty sleep :D Or I'll be useless at work tomorrow!

I also listen to audiobooks on my commute, while I clean, and exercise...my reading volume went up once I finally took the step with audio...but my music listening has suffered :(

message 338: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (veraj121) I love my Kindle also... Yes!!! I read most commuting to and from work ( work in Manhattan and live in Queens, NYC). I have 2 young ladies ( 16 & 22) and I cant believe they want more attention older than when they are younger. smh. And the hubby, oh boy. Right now he is sleep so I can get a little reading in before I go to sleep

A Storm of Swords is the next in the series for me, on the audio waiting list at the library, but hoping it comes soon while everything is still fresh in my head :)

I've asked about Cress in the colour check thread in the captain's group. I think it's good to get confirmation just in case.

That series is really good for this game each book matches several cards.

Apple and Rain by Sarah Crossan
Apple and Rain
2 stars

A key tenant of my reading experience is that I have to be invested in the characters. Unfortunately, I never really became invested in Apple's life and really kept hearing the same tune from her. The story itself was very flat, and you always know where the story is going (which would have been fine if I had some sort of character investment). It was an ok read, with my favorite being Rain...would have liked her POV.

Cards it fits: 0 (stand alone), 2 (character named Trish), 3 (surname Holloway), 5 (character name Iona), 6 (author Sarah), 8 (character name Egan), Skip (character name Pillar)
