"No," Dawn replied, her voice muffled. "I'm not crying. I'm just giving up because this endeavor is pointless."
"Logistically there's too few options," Dawn protested, feeling depressed. "I'm all alone on this project, aren't I?"
"Yeah, as if you'd be willing to help..." Dawn trailed off, fingering a heavy book about mechanics beside her. "Azalea has been a good friend to me, and I'd hate to betray her, but honestly I'm getting tired of Roxanne's little game." She looked around for her notebook.
"I just... all this work she gives me." Dawn frowned. "It's hard to explain." She leaned her head in her hands, looking up at him. "I just don't want to do this anymore," she said, gesturing around her.
"No. Roxanne won't let me go." Dawn flipped through the pages of her notebook, finally settling down one with a complicated mechanical drawing. "I want to visit my brother," she mumbled, fishing around her pencil case for a writing utensil.
"Really?" Dawn asked with a sniffle. Darn, now she was really going to cry. "Nobody would ever do that for me... well, besides Azalea." She smiled, a bit sadly.
Dawn grinned. "I just hope seeing his grave won't trigger anything." She paused. "You know, tomorrow is the anniversary of his death."
"We don't have permission!" Dawn shut her notebook with a quiet bang, her pencil rolling under the table. "Whoops," she mumbled and dove under the table for it.
"I need permission," Dawn said, her head emerging from under the table and staring at Francisco. "I'm important personnel, apparently."
"Azalea? Possibly even Roxanne herself... It's always been Roxanne who said I could go, but that's because I dropped a few hints here and there." There was a silence. "Damn, where's my pencil?"
"Oh! Thanks," Dawn said, mentally chastising herself for missing it. "Either way, I suppose we need to ask Roxanne first. Or at the very least Azalea."
"Let's try Azalea. And maybe she'll come with us!" Dawn had a hopeful smile on her face.
"Why thank you, kind sir," Dawn told him, taking a small bow as she swept her notebook, pencil, and pencil case into a satchel. She swung it onto her shoulder and gracefully walked out.
