Really, with all this knuckling, he'll have no forehead left. I wonder if it's a sign of subservience or simply a nervous tic.It's such a heart-breaking scene with Stephen Blackpool. The thought that this little jumped-up Bounderby can, in effect, call life or death on a person. I think that he had needed 'his heels cooled' in the ditch for a decade or two longer. (Having one's heels cooled is an expression that my mother used, though I believe in a much kinder way than I.)
