Be wary in the comments section thpugh, its not all positive posts about the group. Just giving a heads up to people who want to read it

However, personally it does not bother me, nothing and no one is universally liked (or loathed). But it is quite possible that some members may not take to certain comments kindly. I have faith in the members to show decorum in their conduct if they partake in the conversation in comments.
^-^ I personally don't care either but I figured that it wouldn't hurt to warn others of the negative comments since, as you said, not all members might take to such comments kindly. Better to give a warning just to be safe in my opinion Though I think most active members will be able to show proper decorum if they choose to engage with anyone there

Awww, thank you, Fiza! <3 Every member counts though, so we all have to thank you in return, as well as Kikki and Ashwin, and everyone else who actively participates in the threads, even if you aren't necessarily reading with us! You all make this group possible.

It takes a certain kind of person to be very closed and uninterested in understanding how others think, even when we end up concluding we will stick to our own opinion, the one we had at the beginning of the conversation. I'm not interested in discussing with such people, and there are quite a few of them in the comment section. The only one to lose energy in vain for trying to promote the good stuff is myself, and I have better things to do with my time than try to convince people, who don't wish to be convinced, or even hear what I have to say.As for our corner of Goodreads, thanks to Emma and mods, and thanks to all of you who make my day more exciting!
I felt like a lot of people in the comment section of that blog were looking for a rise out of people. My favourite comment was the CIA one. That was just beyond epic! I was going to comment and then decided that there was no point. Sometimes the best thing is to leave well enough alone. ***Don't feed the trolls***

Just curious, if this is the largest group on Goodreads, how do I found out which one is second?
Thanks. The History Book Club isn't even on the first page. They claim to be the biggest NON-fiction group, and it might be true. Anyway, they don't have to rank on the list. I love them anyway.
I am so glad that Goodreads put a spotlight on the group. Reading, and reading groups are the best way to reach an audience, and thus start a dialogue on important issues. I also liked how they pointed out that Our Shared Shelf is just one segment of Emma Watson's work and that there is only room for the group to grow and develop as a place for feminist inquiry, learning, and advocacy.Maybe the trolls on the article need to join the group to learn a bit more about feminism before they start being so subjective.

Congratulations to everyone, especially the mods - this is an incredible group to part of and you are all doing an amazing job.
It is great and exciting to see how fast the group grew, the number of people, the variety of topics discussed and answers...And it is just February! Thank you for the initiative and all the work! Apart from a great discussion and exchange platform, I also find that the group provides so much data, just the thread "why did you become a feminist" is one of the longest threads but worth reading in its entirety (even the repetitions are very telling)! I was very excited to see this news...and then I read the comments x) It is so frustrating to read negative posts about the definition of feminism, and even though as Jo said, you can't please anybody, I wish it were for more developed reasons or that it didn't feel like we are stuck in an everlasting debate about a word and can't start tackling issues and developing ideas behind it.
Anyway!! That is great :)

Folks, we rock it! It's so cool to be a part of this group (just now have I posted posts in about the half of the January's book's thread! And it is 3AM, appreaciate that). We are the biggest group on Goodreads and we made the sales of My Life on the Road soar by 109%, we rock it!I so love to post here and to read here, it's so thought-provoking and I'm learning so much every time!

Congratulations to everyone!I think every project has ups and downs, what matter the most is the attitude towards the obstacles; it is not easy because every person has its own thoughts but the main thing here is gender equality. I'm so happy to be part of this book club, I have learned so much!, I probably do not post a lot but I try my best to read the different topics and improve my grammar.

You're absolutely right, as long as we focus on why we're here - Feminism - and have lively debates(or read along and improve our grammar) that's totally fine.

I just went and read that article, and some of the comments, I just had to leave my little positive remark at the end, I have only been a part of this group a short time but the two books I have read so far have already had a positive influence on me and my outlook. :)
Robert, which one's did you read? I definitely recommend My Life on the Road and The Argonauts, as well as Persepolis, the best books in my opinion. I learned the most of them and enjoyed them the most.

I am considering going backwards and reading all the books of the month that came before like the ones you mentioned, just not sure if or when I will. I am just going to keep an eye out in my second hand bookstore and if I see any ill grab them up.
