Kaz (view spoiler)[he can be pretty ruthless when he needs to be. What he did to that guys eye was a pretty intense scene, but I am glad he defended Inej. Kaz is really not someone you want to cross, but good to have in your corner. (hide spoiler)]

Nina (view spoiler)[It's nice to have a little more of her backstory. That prison sounded pretty rough. Do you think that guard that brought her water was Matthias? (hide spoiler)]

Matthias (view spoiler)[He seems to be in constant conflict with himself. There are times he wants to hate Nina, but part of him seems to want to believe her when she said she was sorry and wanted to make things right. I am interested to see what led to him getting falsely imprisoned. (hide spoiler)]

I agree with all that you wrote. My feeling exactly. I love how Kaz (view spoiler)[ seems to have the gift to anticipate pretty much anything. It's fun to watch. (hide spoiler)]

I feel bad for both Nina and Matthias.

But I literally laughed out loud at the (view spoiler)[ ghost discussion. When Matthias said his ghost wouldn't associate with Kaz's ghost. It was so out of character for him. (hide spoiler)]

Inej (view spoiler)[glad to see she woke up. Her story about being sold to the Menagerie was sad. Kaz really has helped her escape that life. It's sweet that he never forced her to get the tattoos for joining the Dregs. There definitely seems to be mutual feelings between Kaz and Inej. I'm curious if either will ever admit it to one another. (hide spoiler)]

Kaz (view spoiler)[The story about Kaz and his brother Jordie was sad. After their fathers death so much fell on Jordies shoulders, it was awful that they were taken advantage of and lost all their money as a result. I wonder what ends up leading to Jordies death. So far from what we've seen I can't blame Kaz for putting up walls. (hide spoiler)]

Matthias (view spoiler)[that was interesting hearing about the ship wreck and how Nina had saved him. Their bantering back and forth was amusing, they were really pushing one another to keep going to stay alive. It's sad though that he still holds such strong prejudices against Grisha. Nina (view spoiler)[Know we finally have the details on how she had Matthias falsely imprisoned. It seems though like she was in a lose-lose situation and really had no choice. She did try to recant her statement, but unfortunately it would not work. With Nina and Matthias planning to scheme against the group, how do they think they will get away without getting caught. Kaz doesn't seem like one that is easily fooled. This can't end well. (hide spoiler)]

Kaz (view spoiler)[Those firepox sounded awful. Pretty rough conditions that Kaz endured. It's sad that he lost his brother that way. I wonder if the reason the he wears his gloves all the time is because he had to use his brothers corpse as a raft?. Now that they are in the prison I can't wait to see their next move. Jesper (view spoiler)[Now we get more information about his true abilities. Interesting that he is Grisha, it was a cool ability that he is a fabrikator. That would be a pretty handy ability. (hide spoiler)]

I'm now 20 chapters in as well. WOW this book is so full of information and angles and twists. Youza. I'm REALLY loving it so far. I'm off to read your spoilers now, but I absolutely love reading (hearing?) the back stories of some of our characters. Fascinating!

I'm gonna bet it won't come to anything until the very end of this book (like what is gonna happen, jeesh!) or possibly the next... IDK how Matthias and Nina think they can put ANYTHING past Kaz. He seems to know ALL the angles. But I agree this drug is awful. I hate what it is doing to Grisha. So addictive and damaging. (hide spoiler)]

And being mistaken for dead and thrown in that pile is probably why he can't stand touching ANYONE. He must really want this money to endure losing his gloves and having to strip naked in front of the other prisoners! I was so worried about him when he passed out in that wagon - youza. I'm not sure how Nina is (view spoiler)[ going to handle Yule Bayour (I don't' have a print copy, sorry if I'm spelling that wrong) and killing him when and if they actually find him. And I can't believe she ran into all those guards and sounded that alarm! You know something ALWAYS has to go wrong, but youza! (hide spoiler)]
