What to do if a book is split in two volumes (meaning that it is usually in one volume, but has been split for readability or whatever). Do I create a series? It is two (or more) volumes of one book but not, technically, a series.

Sometimes a series is created for a work split into multiple parts, but then the original one volume edition shouldn't be added.
Will it cause a problem if the two volumes are in the "Other editions" of the integral edition?
If the two volumes have separate records, they should not be combined with the integral work. All editions of a work should have the same content.
