Ask these questions with an open heart and mind. Again I will not argue here. I will give you my Word on the subject and then let God do the rest. If you are inclined to argue about it take it up somewhere else.

Well it's up to you actually. If you want to stay and listen to what Christians believe, then that perfectly fine. But if you don't want anything to do with Christians then thats fine to.

Lol yes Christmas is fun. But being a Christian is a lot more than what people make it out to be. People over here are flippant about it. I know how seriously Muslims take their faith, Christians are the opposite(though we shouldn't be). We've become to relaxed in our culture.

You know, Christmas has nothing to do with presents, we just give and receive at this time to represent the wisemen's three gifts to Christ after His birth.

I agree, the presents help. It's also fun if you get snow.

message 14: by byhera (new)

byhera (ordinary) | 20 comments the presents in islam is Iduel Fitri>> that is a victory day, after we have a 'shaum/puasa' for 1 moth.
when shaum/puasa, we may not to eat and drink anything from subuh until magrib. and we must control our emotion.

message 15: by Christa (is on top of the world!) (last edited Jul 24, 2009 08:35AM) (new)

Christa (is on top of the world!) (obsesedwbooks) I was raised christain, baptized and everything, but, my faimily stopped going to church on Sundays. Do you think that we should go, or that we even need to go, inorder to show our true faith in the lord?

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't believe going to church truly matters, I know i would probably be critized by a few fellow Christians for voicing that but there are people that can't go to church. A church is just a building and as long as you truly believe in god and that Christ died for our sins, it doesn't matter if you do not attend service.

message 17: by Riley(: (new)

Riley(: (rileylea) I know a few friends who go to church and a lot that don't. I observed and saw that the ones who went to church didn't have a personal relationship with God, while the others did. Just because you go to church does not mean you are a Christian, and just because you are a Christian doesn't mean you have to go to church.

Church has slowly become a substitution for what real Christianity is. Searching out God and knowing Him is the most important thing of our life. Then we must walk out His will in the world. Fellowship with one another is very important as well. For we need strength as Christians and having people to talk to and share life with is essential. But our main goal is to reach the lost, not relax in our salvation and watch the world burn. Church has become a place not of praising God but of hiding from the world. Or even worse it's become a place were we give God his hour and a half of our week, and then forget about Him while we do whatever we want the rest of the time.

Christa (is on top of the world!) (obsesedwbooks) Thanks for the advice,Pudding, Alexis, and D.C. I apreciate it so much. Yeah, I suppose you peopels are right, going to church every Sunday really is overated. Although, I did enjoy participating in Youth Group when the church I went to actually had one. Most of the times, though, all my family did was sit in the middle pews(sp) and follow along with the dialy worship. It wasn't all that fun. I know that Gods real because the last time I asked him to give me a sign, he did. But, anyway, that's a whole diffrent story.

going to church is enjoying fellowship and support of others - not going the devil can intervene and your peace is no longer as is your fellowship with the lord

message 22: by Carol (new)

Carol (goodreadscomcarolann) I believe that in the bible the "church" refers to Christians who come together to worship God and engage in fellowship. If your church does not do that for you, look for another church.

Part of fellowship is helping others by carrying their burdens. When someone is going through a difficult time, we pray specifically for them. It is so nice to be the recipient of prayer as well as the one who prays for others. Many times I prayed for someone with health issues or monetary issues and, amazingly, was so happy to meet them when their issues were resolved positively. Not all turn out that way, but even in the most difficult and sad situations, you are with them in prayer. (We also help them with food, care for their children, etc.)

1 Samuel 12:23
As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and right.

message 23: by Virginia (new)

Virginia | 1 comments Is it wrong to debate the bible?

I think not. Each person should be able to take the bible into his or her own hands and learn it in their point of view. Every person thinks differently, so let there be a group where people can debate or argue their side of the story. I know that life isnt about arguing but we need to atleast try to set the story straight. Seeing things from a different person's view might change their beliefs completely. So let us teach to be consoled. Let us learn so we can pass on what needs to be tought to others. Let each individual have their own opinion... God did.

message 24: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Kirk | 14 comments Christa: The church is given for fellowship. Just as an example, imagine someone you love dies. Church people take in food and in one church I admire, the people went to a home to help the wife lift the patient into bed and other things. They gave up their own lives for a few days to spend the night sleeping on the floor to help. Church people spend time in prayer for each other and I believe that prayer often brings healing and comfort to families. "Where two or more are gathered in My name, there am I also." And in a world where there is so much confusion, we need each other for moral support. I know that the stereotype to many is that "the church is full of hypocrites" and sometimes we are all hypocrites. Paul asks why he does what he doesn't want to do instead of what he wants to do and we all have our moments of failure. I wish the stereotype of the person going to a bar on Saturday night were more true. Not everyone in church is a Christian. Many are seeking and they are in the right place whether or not they spent last night in a bar.

Carol (goodreadscomcarolann) I have a request -- going in for surgery this am, been in the bible and praying for a successful surgery. If anyone wants to pray for me, I would greatly appreciate it. I will be admitted after surgery so I don't know when I will be back to a computer. Thank you very much.
