I have a book here that has a cover that is finished in what they call a
`super matt finish`. Best way to describe it is that when you stroke it,
it feels like suede, silky smooth to the touch.

However, I have also dicovered that if the cover is a very dark colour
it shows every finger mark and shows up as greasy marks no matter
how clean your hands are or how carefully you handle the book .
I tried washing my hands each time I picked it up to read, no joy there.

Mine had a large palm print on the back where I had rested the
book while I read and various finger marks on the front. It looked awful
and I thought that this was something I would just have to live with.
But my son had an eraser that we tried and this got rid of mostly all
of the marks, just a thin line remains near the spine on the back and front

A regular eraser won`t work but the one we used was called
a STAEDTLER Mars Plastic eraser. It removed the marks without
damaging the surface. I just thought I would mention this in case
any one else had a book with the same finish on the cover.

Haven't had the issue but adding a "like" for Staedtler erasers. There are probably better now but been using them for over 20 years and love them!

I remember using them way back in the 70s & loving them. Always very good quality.
