Vickking | 29 comments I'm looking for a book I read within the past 2 years about a woman on the run who is sent to a bar to find a man who is supposed to help her. At first he assumes she is hitting on him but when he finds out that she was sent his way by his estranged father he thinks it is a set up and yells at her/freaks her out. She runs to hide at a local motel while the man's friends convince him that she is in need of help regardless of his fathers involvement. One of his friends goes into her motel room when they find her and (I think) gives her a taser to make her feel safer with them at which point she maybe accidentally tasers her love interest/protector.
The only other things I can remember is that the guy keeps getting upset by her continued communication with his estranged dad who was a dirty cop (also possibly neglectful or emotionally abusive to him and his mom when he was young). It reminded me a bit of Chill by Stephanie Rowe. Please help me find this book, I've searched everywhere and it's driving me crazy! Thanks.

Vickking, why is the heroine on the run? Can you tell us more about her background, job, etc.?

Is the hero a bartender, bouncer or owner of the bar?

Note: Chill reminded Vickking of her book.

Vickking | 29 comments I can't remember why she is on the run, I think she witnessed something at her job. The hero doesn't work at the bar, I think he and his 2 friends run a security company or something like that. The bar is their regular hangout so his estranged father knew he would be there a certain night. I think the father gives the woman a picture of his son and that's how she identifies him.

Vickking | 29 comments I also think the heroine was pretty young, and I think it's her 21st birthday when she goes to find the hero at the bar.
