Hi Christine,As Denise mentioned, you can use your own publisher and being Canadian, you have the advantage of getting a free ISBN, so there probably isn't much need to use the free number provided by Createspace.
Christine is right.
In Canada you need to use the ones from the government anyways (I think)! They are free, but you have to send them a copy of your book.
It makes me smile that somewhere in the grand Canadian archive there is a copy of my book. They asked for it!

Christine wrote: "Being new to most of this can anyone tell me if it is a great benefit to having my own as compared to using ones from Createspace etc."On the question of any benefit -- that is, if readers look more favorably on book with their own ISBN rather than an ISBN from a POD service -- I have seen no hard data, but my overall impression is that, to the extent such an impression once existed, it is fading. However, I believe this applies print books more than eBooks; as far as eBooks go, it seems pretty clear that having an ISBN confers no advantage over an ASIN.
In your case, it appears the question is largely moot, since there is not cost either way.
Owen Thank you so much for your time and answering my silly question. I have been told some places won't sell our books with a CS or LULU ISBN number. This makes it clearer.
Christine wrote: "Thank you Kat Christine Hannon"Christine, you don't have to add your author link. First, it's a little strange to see your name after your words and second, if someone really wants to see your profile, all they have to do is click your name on the grey line. :)
I have never done that before but I could not figure out why the link was there. I figured it was there for a reason so I clicked only to find it was not necessary. Sorry and I learned something too. Thank you
