Miriam will start posting on behalf of AudioFile starting on Monday. I'm still a member, but will just be commenting on my personal listens. Otherwise I'm concentrating on my AudioFile blog and a new narrator-related project. See you in the hood.

Hi Everyone, Miriam here, I'm so excited to be posting about audiobooks. Look for some new posts starting Monday. In the meantime, happy listening.

Have you ever listened to memoirs and biographies of musicians, particularly of the rock and roll era. These audiobooks are often punctuated or enhanced by sound clips of musicians' performances. Take a listen to Otis Redding: An Unfinished Life by Jonathan Gould, read by Stefan Rudnicki. Rudnicki's gravely voiced performance is perfect for bringingOtis Redding's performance to life. Listen to a sound clip from AudioFile's review on SoundCloud http://bit.ly/2EZ2s32

Are you having one of those restless weeks? Can't decide what to listen to that will keep you on your toes? A good political thriller might do the trick.
Here at AudioFile Magazine, we just posted "Staff Picks and Mystery Favorites" on our blog http://bit.ly/2thBkuF. The four selections showcase spell-binding intrigue selected by our editors and performed by stellar narrators.
Be sure to click on the links for longer reviews and sound clips.
Happy listening!

It's Monday, first day of school for the week and time to think about how children and teens shape the world in which we live. Francisca Goldsmith highlights "The power of children as political leaders" in yesterday's AF blog post In Our Time. http://bit.ly/2thF3IF. These titles feature teens who made their voices heard in politically troubling times.
Check out these books about teens and how their actions changed the world around us.

Authors of these books include feminists and anarchists, but most importantly, women who speak out about women's issues.

There's a new performance and new introduction by the author to this classic tale. Listen to AudioFile Magazine's review and clip on Soundcloud http://bit.ly/2FyW3Mm

I just finished listening to AudioFile Magazine's "The Download: In Conversation with Robin Miles," a thirty minute interview with this versatile and charming Golden Voice and Ear phones winner. One of the most talked about books of the season "The Woman in the Window" by by A.J. Finn and read by Ann Marie Lee is the winner of an AudioFile Magazine Earphones award.
Imagine seeing a murder from your window, or did you? The scene is intense and so is the performance.
On yesterday's "Behind the Mic," Ann Marie Lee talks about narrating this suspenseful audio book http://bit.ly/2GGW1Ub. Listen to Ann Marie Lee talk about the experience on AudioFile Magazine's YouTube channel https://youtu.be/X0v_T69KleY.

The article focused on one of my favorite niches within the mystery genre. I've pre-ordered the latest Maisie Dobbs and await it eagerly. I have no idea what I will do when the next Royal Spyness is released... Katherine Kellgren will be sorely missed and filling her vocal shoes may be impossible.

While you are waiting for Maisie Dobbs, you might try some of the Audie Mystery finalists listed here: https://www.audiofilemagazine.com/aud...
Of course, AudioFile Magazine provides reviews of mysteries every week in our Real Time Reviews. Sign up for our newsletters and find a new favorite author. Here's the link https://www.audiofilemagazine.com/ema...
Let me know if you need more listening suggestions.

I just finished listening to Wednesday's release (March 28, 2018) of "Behind the Mic" which features Edoardo Ballerini. While the blog highlight's several of Edoardo's performances, his interview focuses on Catherine Banner's The House at the Edge of Night. His takeaway? "I didn’t know the characters were going to get inside me and show me things about my own life."

While Edoardo gives his interview in his own voice, fans know that he's quite adept at accents, particularly Italian.
Let me know if you have a favorite Ballerini audio book performance.

As you plan for this holiday weekend, you should take a look at AudioFile Magazine's newest recommendations for children's books. Robin Whitten, our intrepid editor and founder, put together a group of children's books with outstanding narrators in her latest blog post (March 30, 2018) bit.ly/2Ihvuw3 .
Master narrator Rupert Degas and Kathleen McInerney are just two narrators are earning Earphone Awards and capturing the imaginations of our younger listeners. Of course, adults will be enchanted by these books as well.
