AudioFile Mag | 2248 comments A is for Alibi (Kinsey Millhone Mystery) by Sue Grafton Aurelia here. A few days before her December 28 death, my husband asked me how long I thought we'd have to wait before 'Z is for Zero' appeared. Little did we know that we would wait forever. The alphabet ends with Y. I had the pleasure of speaking with Grafton when she was still on Q, learning how she and narrator Judy Kaye admired each other. Here you go: http://bit.ly/2re302S. Here's the more recent profile of Judy Kaye: http://bit.ly/2D6aer2. The review of Y is for Yesterday, which came out in August: http://bit.ly/2Dm6wgj. AudioFile Mag | 2248 comments Bahni Turpin Bahni Turpin just won an Earphones Award for Naima Coster's Halsey Street. Here's what she has to say - “I loved Halsey Street for being deliciously real. With characters who are layered and complicated. And stuck. There are people in this book who were stopped at some point in their lives by disappointment, or unwillingness to change or to accept change. This is a very human exploration of one woman coming to terms with her family wounds and eventually beginning to move toward healing.”

AudioFile Mag | 2248 comments Down the River unto the Sea Detective, Heal Thyself by Walter Mosley Aurelia here with what Dion Graham has to say about reading Walter Mosley's Down the River unto the Sea: Detective, Heal Thyself, for which he won an Earphones Award: “Devastatingly good, that's what this book is. Regret, remorse, revenge, redemption... Full of sardonic humor to boot. It was good to walk the dark night of the soul with former detective Joe King Oliver, stumbling toward daylight. I hope listeners enjoy getting there as much as I enjoyed bringing it to life.”

Miriam Kahn is a reviewer for AudioFile Magazine and has been a Goodreads member since 2008. She's the addict that the rest of us are. Here's what she says: "In the car, on a walk, cooking, baking, stitching, or gardening, I always have a book in my ear. As a librarian and book lover of the audiophile persuasion, I’m hooked on great narrators who bring romance, historical fiction, mysteries, and history to life. Sound effects are always welcome."

Miriam will start posting on behalf of AudioFile starting on Monday. I'm still a member, but will just be commenting on my personal listens. Otherwise I'm concentrating on my AudioFile blog and a new narrator-related project. See you in the hood.

Death in the Air The True Story of a Serial Killer, the Great London Smog, and the Strangling of a City by Kate Winkler Dawson While reading through the current issue (Jan/Feb 2018) of AudioFile Magazine, I was tantalized by the interview with Graeme Malcom, the range of his narration experiences, and his most recent performance of Death in the Air: The True Story of a Serial Killer, the Great London Smog, and the Strangling of a City. The article focused on one of my favorite niches within the mystery genre. I've pre-ordered the latest Maisie Dobbs and await it eagerly. I have no idea what I will do when the next Royal Spyness is released... Katherine Kellgren will be sorely missed and filling her vocal shoes may be impossible.

AudioFile Mag | 2248 comments Good evening, Miriam here.

I just finished listening to Wednesday's release (March 28, 2018) of "Behind the Mic" which features Edoardo Ballerini. While the blog highlight's several of Edoardo's performances, his interview focuses on Catherine Banner's The House at the Edge of Night. His takeaway? "I didn’t know the characters were going to get inside me and show me things about my own life." The House at the Edge of Night by Catherine Banner . Here's the link to the blog post http://bit.ly/2GmkfSF. You can listen to his interview on YouTube https://youtu.be/nflIDtID__w

While Edoardo gives his interview in his own voice, fans know that he's quite adept at accents, particularly Italian.

Let me know if you have a favorite Ballerini audio book performance.
