James Fouhey is best known for his performances of children's books, non-fiction, and science fiction. What a great combination! When you read the interview, you'll learn Fouhey is a Dungeons and Dragons Master. Now that really adds to his creds when reading fantasy, or "High" fantasy as Fouhey calls it. Candace picked a great selection today. I'm going to check out three.
James Fouhey gives an Earphones Award winning performance of "Bonds of Brass: The Bloodright Trilogy, Book 1" by Emily Skrutskie. Listen to the sound clip and review of this sci-fi saga set in outer space https://bit.ly/3d5lbKB .
Perfect for 8-year-olds and up, "Cog" written by Greg van Eekhout showcases James Fouhey's performance of this sci-fi / fantasy featuring droids. Read the review here https://bit.ly/3sC9wun
Non-fiction study "American Prison: A Reporter's Undercover Journey into the Business of Punishment" by Shane Bauer is another James Fouhey Earphones Award winning performance. Author Shane Bauer reads the introduction. The review includes a sound clip of this eye-opening audio book https://bit.ly/3ejc23P
Don't forget to read the interview and James Fouhey's incredible answers.

Paul Alan Ruben describes his experience and his trepidation producing MACBETH when all the voice actors were in separate studios, acting out the play all by themselves. Fortunately, he had a cast of fantastic voices namely Scott Brick, Dion Graham, Johnny Heller, JD Jackson, Steven Anthony Jones, Kathe Mazur, Carol Monda, Paula Parker, Maggi-Meg Reed, and Simon Vance. Most are Golden Voices and all should be familiar to AudioFile Magazine followers and audio book lovers. Just as Shakespeare is hard, so is corralling ten narrators. I cannot wait to listen to this 2-1/2 hour performance of the 1606 play. The glories of technology and audio books made it happen. Read all about it in Ruben's post.
"The Tragedy of Macbeth" by William Shakespeare and performed by Scott Brick, Käthe Mazur, Dion Graham, Steven Anthony Jones, Simon Vance, Carol Monda, Paula Parker, Maggi-Meg Reed, Johnny Heller, JD Jackson. Read the review here https://bit.ly/3aOmOhv Note: while we don't have a sound clip, if you follow the link on GR to Libro.fm, you'll find one.
Was listening to MACBETH easier than reading the play. Curious ears want to know.

Candace talks Tavia Gilbert through a series of questions about how she records and what she does to keep her voice healthy. Her advice is a great prescription for all of us, especially as the seasons change. While you can read Tavia's responses, you'll also want to explore the various audio books she's recorded. I'm going to check out two of them today.
How the Light Gets In written by Jolina Petersheim and read by Tavia Gilbert. This performance won the 2020 Audie Award for Faith-Based Fiction and Nonfiction. The review includes a sound clip https://bit.ly/39lw7Sm
M.J. Rose's Cartier's Hope: A Novel read by Tavia Gilbert is one I've been wanted to listen to. Check out the review here: https://bit.ly/2wsTlc9
We hope you'll try all the audio books that Tavia's recorded. Of course, there are only so many hours in the day to listen! Which will you choose to?
