Keyser Soze (truman19) Hi, my wife reads lots of books that would fall for discussion in this group. She began with Fifty Shades, then reads other like it, constantly. She likes the strong strength of character the guys in the books display, plus I guess, what they get up to. it has been suggested to me that I should perhaps read a couple of these books to see for myself what my wife likes in the male characters.

My question, please, is can you please recommend a couple of books for me. Strong male characters, taking control, making the woman feel like she is the most important girl on the planet. Thank you in advance.

Mandy Lee | 16 comments There's lots out there! My favourites are The Crossfire series by Sylvia Day, and the This Man trilogy by Jodi Ellen Malpas. I'm currently reading the Stark series by J Kenner, recommended somewhere on here.

Keyser Soze (truman19) Thanks Mandy; appreciated. I believe we have the Sylvia Day books in paperback, but not sure I want to read a paperback at work (as opposed to a Kindle version :)) I'll check out the This Man trilogy though.

Mandy Lee | 16 comments Great! I'm currently reading the Stark trilogy by J Kenner. And then I'm going to try a bit of Pepper Winters and some Meredith Wild. I'm also following someone called Sloane Howell on Twitter. Interested in trying his books (I think he's a he!) It's been recommended to me. Happy reading!

Keyser Soze (truman19) Yeah thanks Mandy. Whatever allows me to discover what women (ie my wife) want !!

Speaking of which, if I am to model myself on these guys (because she has told me she likes these guys), I assume I am to be confident, take control (but not dominant?), passionate, interested in her, listen to her? And in the bedroom, likewise ... take control, decisive etc?

Mandy Lee | 16 comments I'd say the control in the bedroom is the most important thing!

Most women, in the real world, like to be the boss everywhere else!

Keyser Soze (truman19) Hehehe ... OK. I'll try that. As for the latter part of your advice ... yep, goes for my wife too.

You could start a counselling service.

Mandy Lee | 16 comments I'll try the Hacker series first then!

I've just finished the second book in the Stark series. I liked it better than the first, and I'm looking forward to reading the third instalment next week on holiday.

Keyser Soze (truman19) I think I have actually read the first of the Stark novels. He's the billionaire right?

message 10: by Keyser Soze (new)

Keyser Soze (truman19) If so, I'm probably looking for something more of the 'upper middle class' kind of guy, who while gets well paid, can't use his money to woo his wife; has to focus on the other attributes that she find attractive.

Keyser Soze (truman19) Can you think of a novel that is based around some 'ordinary' guy, not a billionaire, not some guys that just wins the girl over just by looking at her with his smouldering eyes etc but sees some guy win her over in a more usual manner? And while the novel still contains lots of steamy scenes, also has a decent storyline?

I guess no one wants to read about average people romance...

Keyser Soze (truman19) Sweet. Sounds a mirror image of me, hehehe. Thanks heaps Lori, I'll check it out.

MiaBookGeek | 1 comments I just finished Heart of Stone (The Stone Series #1) by Dakota Willink . Great book! The author doesn't give much away in the blurb so it was not what I expected. However, if you read the reviews, they are pretty much dead on - similar to FSOG but still an original story. I enjoyed the in-depth character emotions and their banter. Overall, a highly sensual and well-written read. Looking forward to the next book.

I second this. I really enjoyed the book, but it is another billionaire. I would still check it out though if I were you, Andrew.

Keyser Soze (truman19) Thanks heaps Mia and Lori.

Mandy Lee | 16 comments Right, I'm adding Heart of Stone to my reading list.

message 18: by Keyser Soze (new)

Keyser Soze (truman19) Thanks for the book suggestions everyone. Turns out though, that lack of intimacy is the least of my marriage problems. Instead of reading to find out how to get my wife in the mood, I need to be reading what will see my wife have deep feelings for me again. Bad cycle: no intimacy, I get grumpy, leading to further continued lack of intimacy, leading to feelings vanishing. Got to create strong friendship again, then deep feelings, then intimacy.
