On the subject of manned travel to Mars, I do think this is controversial. On the one hand, it would energize the space program to have a ship travel to Mars with humans on-board. But on the other hand, it's very dangerous, costly, and would probably be done better by robots. However, robotic trips to Mars don't fire up the human spirit like live human treks to Mars. So there is the dilemma. My two cents on the subject. What do you think, Lara?
I read The Martian and loved it! From what I have heard about the movie, the book is much better.

But on the other ..."Whoops! I've been on the road and in meetings, so just saw this. I do agree that the danger and cost associated with space exploration is controversial. In fact, it is likely people will die, which is one reason we haven't sent more people into space. However, there are many who don't believe there is value in spending money and resources on space exploration at all. They don't see any value in it. The struggle in the US for continued federal funding towards science and research (it has mostly been stagnant for several years) reflects this lack of consensus.
Can everybody check the books read and homework completed messages #3 & #4, to make sure I didn't miss anything before I total everything up?Thank you! :)
