Najaf Naqvi (najafnaqvi) a sf book about lucifer, and how he was the good guy. something to do with genetics. lead character is a lady.

and maybe the name of the author has some name related to 'dan' or 'simmons' but not dan simmons.

You read this when? Is author definitely male? Cover art or photo? Standalone or part of a series?

Najaf Naqvi (najafnaqvi) standalone. author was definitely a dude and i think it was released sometime between 1990 and 2006.

A long shot - Perfect People by Peter James?

Is the character's named Lucifer or is he referred to as the devil/satan/etc.? What makes him good?

What's the setting - modern times, distant future, spaceship, etc.?

Elle (louiselesley) I definitely need more information to research it.

more specific genre info would really help!

Najaf Naqvi (najafnaqvi) modern times, no spaceships. it had something to do with genetics, and it was about Lucifer. it had that predictable counter argument about lucifer, that how he stood up to god's tyranny, et cetera. but i cant remember if he was himself a character or not.

i read it as a mass paperback, i bought it the same day i bought digital fortress and angels & demons.

so i think we can narrow the publication date to 1997 to 2004.

its not perfect people.

Najaf Naqvi (najafnaqvi) the word "strain" might be in the title.

message 8: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) a book by Michael Cordy perhaps.

he has a book called Lucifer Code (it came up in a previous search of mine for this book) and a quick google leads me to believe one of his books originally had the word strain in the title?

a lot of people are mentioning angels & demons as being influential to its marketing so seems likely

message 9: by Najaf (new)

Najaf Naqvi (najafnaqvi) yup.

Thanks, we just like to sure before moving a request to a Solved folder.

Elle (louiselesley) glad you found it :D

i think the issue was that it the synopsis isn't really clear what the book is actually about so searching for it was difficult when you haven't also read it!
