Alyssa | 2 comments Sara, I agree with what you've said about the characters not being black and white, and I liked that too. It's so much more interesting when there are shades of grey. I guess one of the things we should factor into our analysis of Jean and Glen is how far people will go to protect the ones they love...in some cases, I suppose, it's pretty far.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the discussion! This was a fantastic way to start our book club and we're excited to see what you all think of the books to come. And as for the treat that we had promised for all those who participated in the chat, inbox Penguin Random House Canada with your mailing address and further details!

If you've come to this chat after the 24th feel free to post your thoughts! I'm sure the GoodBook Club members would love to hear your input.

Happpy Reading,
Fatuma

Sandra | 80 comments Thanks Fatuma! I will message ASAP, excited to see what the treat is, lol. I have enjoyed discussing and hearing other's viewpoints about The Widow on this forum. Can't wait to see what book is picked for March.

Tyler Leigh | 18 comments I'm really excited to see what's next as well. This was really fun.

Nikki (nikkiknightreads) | 13 comments Thanks Fatuma! I loved seeing everyone's opinions and interpretations - it's always so interesting to see the different things people take away from the same story! Can't wait to participate again next month.

Giselle (itsmegiselle) I just finished this yesterday with such a heavy heart. I had no idea it was going to include a pedophile, and even if it was such a serious topic, I still enjoyed it. I love how Fiona takes not only the police, but the media's point of view. I don't think I can see Skittles the same way again..*cries*

Hello again!

I have some very exciting news. The GoodBook Club was such a great success that we wanted to give you all a chance to interact with the author that made it all happen.

Fiona Barton will be participating in a periscope at 1:30pm (EST) March 2nd on the @PenguinCanada twitter account answering your questions! So comment here with questions, and remember to tune into the Q&A. Remember the live stream will be available to all our followers, so no spoiler-heavy questions.

Follow @PenguinCanada on Twitter if you haven't already. We always have some great insight and surprises on our periscopes with authors, so don't miss out!

Cheers,
Fatuma

Patricia (pattycats) | 29 comments I've just finished reading The Widow and I did enjoy it. But-so many questions, so few answers. What really happened? To what extent was Jean involved? On and on and on. It has really left me thinking. I look forward to the next book from Fiona Barton.

Sandra | 80 comments So excited to ask Fiona Barton questions! However, I have no idea what "periscope" is, can someone enlighten me, lol? And, is that 1 p.m. eastern time?
Patricia- I want to know the same things! I especially want to know more about Jean and how much she was involved. I think she knew a lot more than she let on.

Yes, it is 1:30pm EST. Periscope is a twitter app that allows users to live stream videos. If you follow our Penguin Canada account and look for the tweet announcing the periscope, you just click it and get a live feed of the interview with Fiona at our offices. I hope that answers your question.

Christine Nguyen (cneve) Thanks, Fatuma! I will definitely try and participate in the Twitter chat. I think a book club idea has been wonderful. It allows me to look at the book from different perspectives and it allows me to see what I didn't see in my own reading of the text. I also enjoy meeting new bookish lovers and I hope you will have another monthly reading next month :) I really enjoyed this book even though the subject matter was dark and at times, the characters were infuriating. It definitely should become a staple in the ever developing canon of psychological thrillers!

Deanna (qtpiede) | 10 comments That is awesome, wish I had a copy of read. Its always fun to get to chat direct with the author.

Sarah (sarce) | 3 comments I received this book as a Giveaway and I was really looking forward to reading it. I started and finished it today...I just couldn't put it down. I did figure out quickly what Jean had done to Glen but that didn't make a difference. I really enjoyed the manner in which the book was written. Going for one person and time to the other. It helped explain everything from multiple points of view. The subject matter is certainly something I don't enjoy reading about but this novel is unique as it doesn't dwell in the gore of what happened but instead, deals with the psychology of the characters. I truly enjoyed this novel.

I agree with you too Tyler! I liked the writing and the story but there was no BIG moment. Definitely lacked in it's build-up to nothing much.

Sandra | 80 comments I received my "treat" today! Thank you so much for a copy of I Let You Go. This book is already on my TBR list and I look forward to reading it.
