If you wrote a book about your life would anyone be interested? Tell us something interesting about you.

Fishface | 2015 comments Gee, my life is so much about my clients (all I ever do is work) that I would have to write about working with them. Their stories are interesting; mine is dull as beans.

Unless I wrote about the previous generation of my family and tied myself in somehow. That would be interesting.

Selina (literatelibrarian) | 3104 comments naw..Librarians are well known to lead rather dull lives reading other people's books.

Oh but with a bit of creative licence, I could include the lives I lead in my imagination...who would be interested? Anyone who is a sucker for a good story, I will put them in as a character, fictionalised.

So Koren would feature as the lady with the 1000 books who holds the secret to finding the best ones to feed a starving mind. I will divide my people into readers and non-readers. The readers will triumph over the non-readers, when the apocalypse comes and all televisions are destroyed.

I would love to write a book about my adventures with an autistic child. Perhaps some day I will. I would have to learn a lot about the craft of writing a memoir first.

I suggest you go through some of your favorites and see what they did.

Who would write the book?

In my case it would have to be me.

Selina (literatelibrarian) | 3104 comments I can just imagine the book of my life if my mother wrote it.
She might call it 'My ungrateful daughter, and how annoying she is'
If my sister wrote it would be 'My little sister - brilliant misunderstood genius'.
My dad 'lists of books my daughter reads'.
My brothers 'Miss President'.

lol.
Also my cat 'I can't write books, but I can dictate them. Thanks to my owner, I mean staff.'

I would also have to write my own story. How else would you get all the emotions.

Strangely, (coincidence) I was at the library today and noticed they are having a creative writing class in March. Not memoir, but still a chance to learn about the craft. It is free. I think I will go if I dont have to work.

Can you arrange your schedule in advance so you can go?

Selina (literatelibrarian) | 3104 comments hmm I might read your book if you wrote one Koren. Would it be like famous five adventures?

I thought I wrote about my class but I guess I didnt. I did go to the class and it was fun. The instructor gave us a theme or a choice of ideas to write about and then we had so many minutes to write something. It was fun. I wish they would do it again

Selina, some day I might write about my son who has autism. I'm not sure when I will start but I dont think it will be until after I retire.

It could happen any day. You never know.

Martin Kimeldorf | 9 comments I have urged all my friends to begin by writing a contemporary life-review obituary. I urge them to make it fun, worth reading. So far I have 20 samples and have collected them. All found the experience uplifting and heart warming.
