Do you think Sylvia and Harry will make it? What's next for Harry?

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments I don't know about Harry being faithful to one woman. This book did not persuade me that he could be monogamous.

I didn't see anything compelling in the relationship. I mean, they seemed to come together as a balm for the moment but I never got the impression that either was grounded in the other. This one's destined for failure.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments Oh, I hope you're right.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments I like Sylvia but I can't see the relationship lasting that long. Harry needs someone to fill a void in his life and Sylvia doesn't come across as the person who can do that. They are too alike in their loneliness and would only compound it rather than heal it in each other.

On a side note, I really dislike Theresa and am very glad Harry's not involved with her any more. It's really her ethics and not Sylvia's that rubbed me the wrong way.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments Fair enough, Lauren. I definitely agree about Theresa.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7669 comments Mod
Theresa really surprised me. Her job is way too critical for her to manage it the way she does.

Lauren, I was struggling to come up with the right word for Harry and Sylvia's connection and loneliness is it.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments Theresa seemed more concerned with her promotion than with the truth. I doubt that she would have done the right thing without Harry giving her that extra nudge by going to the Times. He knew that and that is why he did it.

Mark my words, she'll resurface later and not in a good way. She hasn't yet through #4 but...

Hmm... a baddie in the making?

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments Intriguing comment, Jonetta, about Theresa.

Theresa is in a position where that kind of ambition is dangerous...she can turn a case upside down.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments I don't think they'll make it. So far Harry's "type" seems to be women who he perceives to be as broken and/or sad as him. I don't think he'll be successful in romance as long as that is the case.

I agree. I think Harry has a tendency, based on these first two books, to see sadness in women and, being so sad and alone himself, to concoct these "deep" connections with them that aren't actually there.
