Sorry, I've been trying to reply from my phone which won't let me link to your comment as a reply. Then I double posted instructions that probably weren't helpful then accidentally deleted my reply when trying to fix on my computer. I've having a great streak.
The simple answer is that it is a combination of votes and luck. Each book will bet matched to one of the 64 tournament basketball teams. Who the book gets matched to will depend on it's overall rank (voting by participants) and a few other factors. The winning book is the one that get matched to the team that wins the NCAA basket ball tournament and this will likely also be a team ranked in the top 3.
Hope that makes sense. So one person will win if they nominated the book that is matched with the winner of the tournament (no reading required). Another person will win the grand prize (value of over $50) for predicting (and reading) the most number of points.

Our fiction category is getting pretty full although I still have a few spots left.
Of course anyone can participate in the challenge but it's more fun if you get one of the spots that comes with your book recommendations rather than having to select a book based on other people's nominees.

We are doing a march madness challenge. Rules here: http://thereadersroom.org/2016/02/11/...
We'll be giving away two prizes: one for the person who nominates the winning book and one for the person who ends up with the best bracket.
All you need to do for now is select three books from your TBR. Then in about a week I'll ask for help with some voting.
Any PBT person who votes will be entered into a raffle for a $10 amazon gift card as a thank you. I hope you sign up. Many books nominated so far are on a few of the PBT lists :)
