More Than This by Patrick Ness

A boy drowns, desperate and alone in his final moments. He dies.

Then he wakes, naked and bruised and thirsty, but alive.

How can this be? And what is this strange deserted place?

As he struggles to understand what is happening, the boy dares to hope. Might this not be the end? Might there be more to this life, or perhaps this afterlife?

Start Date: February 15th, 2016

Nicola This is the first Patrick Ness book I read and I really enjoyed it! It's a bit weird and the blurb is so vague but it kept me guessing until the end. I hope you guys like it!

I'm glad you liked it Nicola! I read his series Chaos Walking: A Trilogy. It's also a little weird, but it's good.

I have this one on hold still - I hope I get it soon.

I'm at 77% and it's confusing but interesting but confusing again. Since it's a single I'm curious how it's going to get all wrapped up.

well that doesn't give me the warm and fuzzy feeling that it will have a happily every after ending. ;)
I'm hitting the 60% marker.

Brandy | 2535 comments I don't know A Monster Calls. Should I be looking into it?
I did read The rest of us just live here. It was alright

Brie | 569 comments lol. I thought that was one we read as a group.. I checked our bookshelf, nope! Apparently, I think all the books I read are with you guys :) It's a good short read, it's one of those that is not what you thought it would be, but worth the read.

You've been reading books without us?! I don't know if that will work for me ;)

Nicola Sorry to hear you aren't enjoying this one!
I really liked A Monster Calls too Brie, it was better than I was expecting especially for such a quick read.
I still need to start the Chaos Walking trilogy. I've been putting that off for so long!

I don't know if it is a matter of not enjoying.....more just pure confusion. I think part of Ness books is the weird factor. I notice that people really like his style. I read the prequel for Chaos Walking and it was pretty good. I have not gotten into the trilogy though.

I agree with Brandy, the writing of this book was vivid and I could picture everything, but I just didn't grasp what Ness was going for. But A Monster Calls was great, so I may look at the Chaos trilogy just based on my enjoyment of it.
