Enjoyable month of reading trying to hit a book a week. Started with the group read Tess gerritsen playing with fire, really good interesting read very different to what id normally go for.
Then Paula Hawkins the girl on the train. Which was ok and different style of composition which was interesting and the twist and turns kept me reading on although frustrated by the characters.
Next I looked for NTM author Tess gerritsen novels at the library to see if any were available and got an early novel under the knife, really good thriller with good twist to finish and nice wrapped up ending. Really enjoyed the main characters dynamic relationship (lawyer that hates doctors and doctor that hates lawyers) and was written well to be believable the way it progressed.
Then I had some more recent jack reacher novels given to me and i hadn't read the series for quite a few years so caught up a couple in the series starting with the affair. I thought it was a Great look back at the end of his army career and the characters working with him were well written and enjoyable to imagine. The political angle and twisting end were great and gave a tied up the questions of why he left the army when he was such a good investigator.
The next in the series was a wanted man and I thought it was an ok read but not great coming of the affair which I really liked. It started out really promising with the hitching a ride with the criminals but it got really slow in parts with so much time given to the redirection and tail chasing between agencies. It finished in a hurry at the end with another trade mark against the odds battle. I know by now I shouldn't read too many of a series in a row as it can easily get repetitive but somehow I still expect it to be different.
I enjoy seeing what every one reads and am in awe of how many books you can get through. I have a lot of catching up on a few long term series people have recommended and really enjoyed the group reads so far.
Jack, thanks for your interesting tour through your month of reading. I hope you continue to get good ideas here for future reads, and glad you are enjoying the group reads.
100% agree with your assessment of The Girl on the Train. I love the Reacher series, and as someone catching up on a different series, I can totally relate to the repetitiveness aspect. Great month for you!
