Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
question
Hermione's Last Name

What do you think Hermione chose as her last name when she married Ron?
I read once that Emma Watson believes that Hermione kept her last name of Granger after she married Ron. While Emma probably understands Hermione better than the rest of us, I can't help but think in my own Harry Potter world that Hermione most likely hyphenated her name to Granger-Weasley. I think it would have been important to Ron for Hermione to take his last name, and I think Hermione would have been happy to do that for him. Anyway, I was wondering what other people thought?

I think Hermione would be glad to change her name- I don't think the self-confidence she had in herself and her mental ability was solely attached to her surname. Maybe if she does scholarly work, she keeps the last name so that people can refer to her older work?
She probably kept it. It has nothing to do with confidence, some people just find the tradition sexist and I am sure Hermione would be one of those people. I doubt Ron would be superficial enough to force the issue.
I bet she kept it. We'll just have to see when Harry Potter and the Cursed Child comes out.
Ron is Hermione-is-scary type.So I doubt he would have "forced" her to change it.

I think she kept it. I've heard her daughter referred to in books and cast lists as Rose Granger-Weasley.
I think she would have changed it to Weasley. I know a couple in real life where the wife kept her maiden name, and even after almost thirty years of marriage, her husband is still bitter about it. The Ron/Hermione relationship is absolutely nothing like this couple. Not that I think Ron would be bitter about it if Hermione kept her name, but we know that their relationship has always been rocky, so I think Hermione would have become a Weasley, not for any anti-feminist reasons, but just as a statement of her devotion to him, despite their usual bickering.
