Meredith (meredithnxo) | 9 comments By 7pm tomorrow I would like to have finished The Tales of Beedle the Bard by J.K. Rowling and make it to pg. 70 of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen I am coming out of a short reading slump so I think I will enjoy it once I get back into the flow.

Kikijanika | 3055 comments My goals:

Get 50% done with Solitaire by Alice Oseman DONE...actually ended up finishing this one.
Read at least one chapter of Reign of Shadows (Reign of Shadows, #1) by Sophie Jordan DONE
Read 100 pages of An Ember in the Ashes (An Ember in the Ashes, #1) by Sabaa Tahir

message 653: by JAKe (new)

JAKe Hatmacher (jakehatmacher) I'm not sure I could read so many different stories simultaneously! I'm not sure that I would even want to. I think the plots and characters would all get jumbled in my head and I might confuse a subtle significant piece of a story or even miss it all together. Why do you read all these books at the same time? I would prefer nurturing and contemplating each one individually.

I didn't think I would like it either. I used to just read one book at a time. Now I really prefer it. The change in storyline and genre keep me interested and keep me from burning out on a boring book. :)

I've mentioned this before, but it helps especially when you just start reading multiple books, if you choose very different books: A high fantasy, a Murder Mystery or Thriller, Contemporary YA, etc.

The plots and styles are so different, you don't tend to get them confused.

My goals today are to finish:

Empire of Ivory (Temeraire, #4) by Naomi Novik (My audiobook checkout time is going to run out before I finish though, and I might have to wait 3 weeks to finish it! ugh!) -About 100 pages

Finish: All In (The Naturals, #3) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes About 100 pages

Start The Power (Titan, #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout 50 pages

Make Progress in The Invasion of the Tearling (The Queen of the Tearling, #2) by Erika Johansen 25 Pages

Make Progress in Magic Breaks (Kate Daniels, #7) by Ilona Andrews 65 Pages

Start Life Moves Pretty Fast The Lessons We Learned from Eighties Movies (and Why We Don't Learn Them from Movies Anymore) by Hadley Freeman 60 Pages

Total Goal = 400 Pages

Hope you made your goals! I really like The Name of the Wind, but not until about a third of the way into it. As for Illuminae, I like it well enough, but not sure I entirely got the hype, so maybe when you are done you can explain it to me! LOL

For Today:

Finish [bookcover:Odd Thomas|14995] - 50 Pages

message 679: by Dichotomy Girl (new)

Dichotomy Girl (dichotomygirl) | 403 comments @ Trinity - I just reread the Covenant series before staring the spin-off series. Is this your first time reading it?

@Katriann - How are you liking The Magicians (The Magicians #1) by Lev Grossman ? It's one of my favorites, but it tends to be one that people love or hate.

@Kikijanika - I am about 80% finished with The Invasion of the Tearling (The Queen of the Tearling, #2) by Erika Johansen . (I didn't finish it yesterday like I was supposed to, instead I finished a whole different book, lol) I really loved the first book, and I'm really enjoying the 2nd book, though it is not AT ALL what I was expecting. It went in an unusual direction and is quite dark. But thus far, I am really liking it.

message 680: by Dichotomy Girl (new)

Dichotomy Girl (dichotomygirl) | 403 comments I can't decide if I was a bad girl or not. I only finished one of my 4 goals, but I started and finished an entire book and novella that wasn't part of my goal, so I still got lots of reading done!

First Year (The Black Mage, #1) by Rachel E. Carter 50-100 Pages

Shards of Honour (Vorkosigan Saga, #1) by Lois McMaster Bujold 25-50 Pages

Random, because I can't decide what I really want to read today: 100 Pages

Total 275-355 Pages

I've been enjoying The Name of the Wind from the beginning. I think I like this author's writing style and the world he's building, but now it's getting a lot more interesting. So I hope this continues on into the next book. As for Illuminae, I'm loving it so far and I'm about 1/3 of the way through!

The Name of the Wind (The Kingkiller Chronicle, #1) by Patrick Rothfuss - Read 15 pages
