Greta And someone has to have read the Harry Potter book before do that would be a reverse, right?

message 252: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Yes, that's right. How about it team? Anybody read Greta's book, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix?

Right now Greta, I'm saving it for Hand 10 blue book, but if we don't get that far in time then I'll move it to a hand with a Reverse if someone has read it.

Teasha Schultz (lhk3) | 65 comments For the Bingo Board
The book I just read -- hearts recaptured -- can be used for either couple appreciation month (the main character gets married) or national licorice month because the cover is more than 50% black.

message 254: by Greta (new)

Greta I completed Tournament of Hearts (The Librarian Gladiator, #1) by Dustin Bilyk which works for the following Bingo tasks:

-National Licorice: black cover
-Garlic Month: Read a book Read a book published on the 19th of a month.
-Reading is Funny Day- bookish character
-National Dolphin Day- MC goes swimming

Do I need to enter that somewhere?

message 255: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments You can enter it on the personal spreadsheet if you want. I'll enter it on the main sheet. Thanks!

message 256: by Greta (new)

Greta I entered the book but is there something to enter for Bingo?

message 257: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments For bingo, just put your books read on here and I'll add them to the tab on the spreadsheet.

So far for Bingo we have completed the following squares:
Couple Appreciation
National Licorice
National Beer Day
International Pillow Fight

We only get extra points if we fill in an entire line, so if anyone can read in those rows that would be great.

message 258: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Spreadsheet is updated as to this point. We're making progress. We've completed everything up to Hand 5, with the exception of green cover book for card 3 in Hand 3.

message 259: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Our team seems to be struggling. Letitia, Greta, or Raine, do you know how we can get some more players?

message 260: by Greta (new)

Greta I can ask a couple friends for help if the mods are ok with us finding our own replacements! Did the mods say no to more readers?

I have a 3 Green book I can read if no one else can.

message 261: by Greta (new)

Greta And thanks for stepping up Nanci!! I appreciate all your help :-)

message 262: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments I sent a private message, but I haven't heard anything. Maybe I didn't send it to the correct person. Do you know who I should send it to?

A 3 green book would be awesome, Greta. :)
I'm happy to help out with this and I'm learning a lot as I go!

message 263: by Greta (new)

Greta Could you or Kierra try messaging the team members?

Or else did you pm the Perks mod account or possibly Karen as I know she's answering over in the Q&A. Or else try asking in the Q&A thread.

message 264: by Greta (new)

Greta Are those other players adding books to their uno shelves?

message 265: by Teasha (new)

Teasha Schultz (lhk3) | 65 comments The Infamous Ellen James -- the book I just finished -- has a dog in it and would work as the adopt a greyhound in the bingo board. :)

message 266: by Greta (new)

Greta Ooh, nice Leticia!

message 267: by Teasha (new)

Teasha Schultz (lhk3) | 65 comments I also have hug a plumber day, the main character is hugging on the cover in Hawaiian Healing. :)

message 268: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Great work, Letitia! I have added both of those books to the Bingo tab on the team spreadsheet.
If we can get "birding" and "funny" we'll have the top row finished.
If we can get "overeating" and "straw hat" we'll have the bottom row finished. Lots of other options too, of course.

message 269: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Thanks for all those great suggestions, Greta.

I heard back from the Mod. She suggested I try to PM the players, so I'm going to ask to friend them, so I can do that. She does have a player she can give us, who has read 14 books, but only if two of our players are no longer interested. I will also check their UNO shelves. I hadn't thought of that!

message 270: by Greta (new)

Greta Oh I hope PMing works!

message 271: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Ok, so I sent PMs to a few of our players who we haven't heard from this month. I realized I didn't have to be friends to do that, which was helpful. I also checked their shelves to make sure nothing was posted. Fingers crossed we'll hear back from them!

message 272: by Greta (new)

Greta I'm currently reading a humor book so I have that covered.

message 273: by Teasha (new)

Teasha Schultz (lhk3) | 65 comments Question.. for the birding one it says about bird/wings on the cover .. what about feathers? I know its exactly either of those things, but it should be.

message 274: by Teasha (new)

Teasha Schultz (lhk3) | 65 comments also, did we ever figure out what "Read a book with 2 and 5 in the page numbers (the edition you are reading)" means?

message 278: by Greta (new)

Greta Yea, welcome Arlene!! We're happy to have you on the team :-)

message 279: by Arlene (new)

Arlene | 35 comments Ok, so how do I get the books I've read so far this month added to the team spreadsheet. I have one that can be added as the Skip - Kiss of Steel

message 280: by Greta (new)

Greta Our captain will send you the link to our personal spreadsheet. You enter your books & Mark everything that fits. Then the captains use them where we have a need.

You also have to have a shelf specifically for this challenge :-)

message 281: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Welcome Arlene! We are soooo glad you're on our team!

I am one of the co-captains. Our captain, Kierra, has been swamped with her "real life", so I've been helping out as much as I can. I can't send you the link to our personal spreadsheet, but I'm sure Kierra will send it to you. Meanwhile, if you want to post your books here, I will add them to the spreadsheet (personal and team one) myself for you. Just tell me name of book, cards that work for it and date read. Thanks!

I'll post this question on the UNO Q&A along with the question about the feather. I'll let you know when I get an answer.

Nanci | 1864 comments Greta wrote: "I'm currently reading a humor book so I have that covered."

Wonderful, Greta! Let me know the date you finish it with the title and I'll post it to Bingo.

message 284: by Greta (new)

Greta I finished :-) will add to the spreadsheet later tonight.

message 285: by Teasha (new)

Teasha Schultz (lhk3) | 65 comments Thank you Nanci!

If feathers work for the cover, I have it covered. I just finished a book about a girl who is part angel and has white feathers on the cover.

:)

message 286: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Spreadsheet updated to this point. We're doing great! Soon we'll be working on Hand 6. We'll be like the horse that comes from behind and wins it! :)

message 290: by Greta (new)

It works for Holy Humor Month.

message 292: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Thanks Greta and Arlene. Arlene, I'll add your books to the personal spreadsheet and team spreadsheet tomorrow.

My birthday was today and it wa action packed all day! Off to bed to do some reading and then it's dreamland time!

message 293: by Greta (new)

Letitia,
I heard from the mod. Feather does not work. It needs to be the whole bird, or a wing. Bummer.

message 295: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Letitia wrote: "also, did we ever figure out what "Read a book with 2 and 5 in the page numbers (the edition you are reading)" means?"

Got this answer from the mods...it was what I guessed.
It's the number of pages in the book of the edition you're reading. You need to click on the book and the page numbers will be listed below the book. For example, if it needs to have a 5 and a 2 and there are 285 pages then that would work.

Greta, Could we use that book for Bingo "Funny Reading Day" (read a book that makes you laugh) instead? It works better in that top row and then we'd only need a book with a bird or wing on the cover to complete the row.

message 297: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Ok team, I've added Arlene's books that she posted and updated to here.

Arlene, please remember to make a UNO 2016 shelf and add your books that you've read this month to it. I'm trying to find out how to send you the personal team spreadsheet, so you can enter your books yourself.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. It was lots of fun, Greta! Gorgeous day here in Virginia! We had a picnic at a local park with our 4 grandchildren and all our children. Just perfect!
