Jaimie Roberts (jaimiekinks) | 7 comments Hi,

I think this is actually out of order that people can do this. I have two books in a series. One is called LUCA (You Will Be Mine) and the other is called LUCA (Because You're Mine). Someone has combined the two together! It's not that one is a kindle version, and the other is a paperback. They're two separate books in a series!

Amazon doesn't do this to me, so why are people on Goodreads allowed to change blurbs, titles, etc on here? It's not right. :(

Can something please be done about this?

Many thanks,

Jaimie.

Michael Korleone (michaelkorleone) | 3881 comments I separated them for you, Jaimie. Another librarian must have accidentally combined them as the covers look similar and even the name is slightly similar. Sorry about that :)

lethe | 16361 comments If librarians aren't allowed to correct titles and other things anymore according to Goodreads standards, GR as a database will go to the dogs.

Books are forever entered into the database incorrectly, the same books can have different subtitles and therefore should be combined. Etc. etc.

But since librarians are only human too, occasionally mistakes are made, and usually they can be easily corrected. I see your books have been separated by someone in the meantime.

Jaimie Roberts (jaimiekinks) | 7 comments Thanks, Michael. I really appreciate that. :) When I searched for my book this morning I was shocked by what I discovered. An author should really be able to have access to their own books. Unless we violate some T&C's, then I can't see why we can't enter/change, etc what we like. It just seems a little strange to me.

lethe | 16361 comments Because what Goodreads wants and what authors want is not always the same. Lots of authors want to replace covers and do away with older editions for example, but GR strives to be a database of all published books ever. Therefore no published editions are ever deleted.

Also, GR maintains a uniform look for titles and series titles. It would become pretty messy if books were allowed to be added according to differing standards.

Allie Ritch (allieritch) | 3 comments Could someone please fix my series https://www.goodreads.com/series/1694...?

For starters, the series name is Alien Sex Ed, not Alien Sex. I was able to include this properly after the titles in parentheses, but it still does not show up right as the series name.

In order, the novellas are
Alien Sex 101: Xindra and Quinn
Alien Sex 102: Mera and Trett
Alien Sex 103: Katra and Krux
Alien Sex 104: Whitt and Spri
Alien Sex 105: Benni and Varion
Alien Sex 106: Pixie and Zeo
Alien Sex 107: Huv and Lexy
Alien Sex 108: Glynn and Deina.

These eight novellas were previously published by Liquid Silver Books in four two-part novels named Alien Sex 101, Alien Sex 102, Alien Sex 103, and Alien Sex 104. Someone has incorrectly combined different books as if they were editions of the same book. Alien Sex 101: Xindra and Quinn was formerly only Part 1 of Alien Sex 101. Alien Sex 102: Mera and Trett was formerly Part 2 of Alien Sex 101, but it has been combined with Alien Sex 102. Alien Sex 103: Katra and Krux was formerly Part 1 of Alien Sex 102, but it has been combined with Alien Sex 103. Alien Sex 104: Whitt and Spri was formerly Part 2 of Alien Sex 102, but it has been combined with Alien Sex 104. The old Alien Sex Ed books released by Liquid Silver Books should be separate, and if you want to include them in the series, then they should be Alien Sex 101 (Alien Sex Ed, #1 & #2), Alien Sex 102 (Alien Sex Ed, #3 & #4), Alien Sex 103 (Alien Sex Ed, #5 & #6), and Alien Sex 104 (Alien Sex Ed, #7 & #8), or you should just leave them unnumbered in the series. They should not be combined with the novellas. I tried the separate tool without success.

Any help correcting this would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Arenda | 26447 comments #6 separated the one-part editions from the two-parts editions.
Also updated the series: https://www.goodreads.com/series/1694...
Also added librarian notes (visible on the combine page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/combin...).

Please start a new thread next time, as this one is linked to a specific book.
