Read the very first story (just two pages, lol) and it gave me such anxiety because that would be a terrible afterlife. I am glad that the book immediately presents itself as showing not heaven or hell - but just an afterlife in as general a sense as possible. Kind of like the idea of an afterlife without the complications of religion also attached which really pleases me. Not sure how the rest of the stories will go, obviously.

Meredith, I did not force myself to slow down and ended up finishing it in essentially one sitting last night. Will think on it some more and leave my thoughts in a few days. Enjoy the reading experience! These little stories really do offer so much to think about.
Look forward to hearing your thoughts, Mercedes. I honestly think I might need to re-read this one as I've forgotten all but a couple of the stories. Perhaps I read it too fast or it's just not sticking with me for some reason.

Same. I really enjoyed reading and thinking about the scenarios when I was actually reading the collection, but a couple of weeks away now and I can only remember two stories with any clarity. The first one and the one where we die and star in other people's dreams.

Hey all, sorry for the super late message! I read this a couple of weeks ago and for me it was an average collection. Some of them I really enjoyed and the ideas I found touching or interesting. But I feel like lots of the stories were so similar it lessened the collection overall. My favourite story was Metamorphosis (the one about having three deaths and the third being the last time a living person speaks your name). I think it was a perfect blend of sadness and humour.
We start reading this little collection a week from today! I think it should be easier/cheaper for everyone to come by a copy and it sounds fascinating.
