I didn't expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. I stumbled upon this book when looking for a book for this category. The title vaguely rang a bell but I did not know what the story was about at all. The title didn't give much away really. Won't say any more. Good read.

Krysta (booksaremyfavthing) | 74 comments I read this for my week 40 book. I had heard of this book but did not know what it was about. I really enjoyed it and wished I had read it sooner.

Stacey D. | 1908 comments Wow - what an intense crime drama. I really enjoyed this steamy thriller, read for Week 37: a book you've seen the movie of but never read. I had seen parts of the 1981 film noire remake with Jack Nicholson and Jessica Lange and enjoyed it, but never knew the whole story.

Written in 1934, the snappy dialogue made the book really fun and kept the pace quick. It had you at the edge of your seat from start to finish. Very sexy (especially for 1934 - yowza), very devious, it's really a story of two very unlucky people who think they are in love. I don't want to give any more away, but I highly recommend this terrific novel.
