@Tati, it seems with all these self-proclaimed Kings...and rightful heirs that we're seeing them through other peoples' eyes. Getting a view of who they really are.

It would be nice to know what goes through their heads, how they think and what is their endgame. We're seeing what the other characters see, which is not everything

That's true but in a way I like not knowing what goes on in some characters head for example Lord Tywin. He's even scarier not knowing what his true plans are.
I am currently about to start Tyrion II which is the last chapter I have planned on reading today, a good way to end the day.
I don't know why but I just really dislike reading from Bran's point of view. I find myself skimming during his chapters. As for Arya it was so exciting to see her interact with (view spoiler)[the Bull. Forgot what he real name is right now. But it's just weird to see their paths collide. (hide spoiler)]

I wouldn't mind keeping out of Stannis' head. Joffrey's a child so it's easy to guess what he's thinking. Battles everywhere with no consequences. Tyrion is still my favourite character.

I feel the same way about Theon's chapters but only because I find him extremely unpleasant. I have finished Chapter 13 (Dany I). I feel like her story is dragging a bit. Hopefully something happens soon.

Dany's chapter was a bit...vague. I was expecting more action there. Tyrion is forever awesome. Such snark, such sass.

As for Theon, (view spoiler)[ he's caught between worlds, I think. He has spent half of his life in the Iron Islands and half in Winterfell, and their worldviews are clashing now. He doesn't belong in either because of this. (hide spoiler)]

I'm now on chapter 37 (a Theon chapter)

I may only be starting chapter 13 now but I feel like this book is going way quicker than the first for me. I think it's because we know the characters and we're used to them that the size of the book barely affects us now.

Also, Char's schedule is so awesome and precise I feel like I could finish all the books soon. (but I can't because of other reads)

Since there were supposedly 8 bastard children but Gendry's the main focus it seems and he's older. Could he be in line or does it not work that way? (hide spoiler)]

As for Gendry, (view spoiler)[ the only way he could become an heir is if he was recognized, through a royal decree, as Robert's son. That's never going to happen, given who is ruling and the measures Cersei has taken to eliminate all of Robert's bastards. (hide spoiler)]

About Gendry, (view spoiler)[aaargh. It is so frustrating that he doesn't know. I felt the same way when Ned left before telling Jon about his mother in book 1. Why?? (hide spoiler)]

Just finished Chapter 19, Arya V (view spoiler)[this chapter started interesting enough and then bam bombs were dropped. I was honestly not expecting her to tell Gendry about her identity and then his reaction was priceless. And the ending of the chapter...Just..speechless (hide spoiler)]

The thing with huge books is that they feel a bit disheartening at times, as you read, read, read, and it still seems like no progress was made

I just got to the point where it is getting so goooood. So I feel like I can actually make it. I wish I had more time to read. The last 3 chapters I have read have be insane. I will post my thoughts later when I am at home as I writing this on my phone.

I may be wrong but I read somewhere that the tv show goes like Season 1 = Book 1 (what I've watched so far is basically what I read last year except the Loras and Renley thing? I may have missed out on that somewhere?).
Season 2 = Book 2
Season 3 = First part of Book 3 (i have the big one not the two)
Season 4 = Remainder of Book 3
and Season 5 = Portions of Book 4.

I need to finish this series because even though Book 6 is coming out in like 100 years, I want to add this to my accomplishments.

Caron, more or less...

Season 5 is a mix of books 4 and 5, and there are stories where the show has moved past the books. This means that on season 5, some characters that don't die in the books die in the show and vice-versa. Some plots don't have where to go. Bran's plot, for instance, has no book material that the writers could use for the show. This means that if and when Bran appears, it's not on the books.

Ah, it does actually. GRRM said on a talk show that the end is already planned out and he told the writers of the show what the ending is. He said it doesn't matter what they do in between as long as they stick to the ending that he wrote.

GRRM is pissing me off, to be honest. It seems he does everything but sit down and write The Winds of Winter, y'know? He is either traveling (and he only writes at home) or he is editing some other book or he is writing scripts for shows unrelated to GoT... I mean, for crying out loud, focus, man!

I know what you mean. I got excited because when I checked the release date for Winds of Winter, I could have sworn I saw April 2015, and now there's no date. He's already so old, and it would suck if he died before the series was complete. Someone needs to keep him at his desk, we're waiting.

Chapter 24 - Theon (view spoiler)[I'm not really liking Theon's character. His chapters are good, but I don't like him. The scene with him finding out he was sweet talking Asha all along made me laugh though. (hide spoiler)]

Finished- I loved this book as much as the first one. I hated reading from Theon's POV and Catelyn's was boring at times but I didn't have a problem with anyone else. Sansa definitely got better but not by much I'm hoping that she develops into a stronger character later. Tyrion and Arya are still my favorite characters.
