Harrison Demchick | 19 comments Any author seeking that second pair of eyes will find no shortage of candidates, but it's tough to know your first time out what you really need and who you're really looking for.

That's when it helps to talk with someone who does. And talking is free.

I'm Harrison Demchick. I'm a developmental editor with nine years experience in the publishing industry. During that time, I've edited a couple dozen published novels and memoirs--and naturally, quite a few others that haven't made it there yet. Books I've edited have been optioned for film. Others have become cult hits of a sort. Most have received excellent reviews.

I'm a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association (www.the-efa.org).

My editorial group is Ambitious Enterprises (http://ambitiousenterprises.com/). Between me and my colleague Ally, we have a collected quarter century of publishing experience, much of which you can find here:

https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

My focus is not on grammar or spelling (not that I won't point out issues if they exist), but on the big-picture issues--character arc, logic, story development, conflict and tension, dialogue, and emotional impact.

And my job is not just to tell you what's wrong. It's my job to show you both what is working and what isn't working--and in the latter case, specifically why it isn't working, and what we can do to make it better.

It's my job to make sure that you're in the very best possible position moving forward.

To that end, anyone with a completed manuscript seeking that extra pair of eyes is invited to sign up for a free half-hour phone consultation right here: http://ambitiousenterprises.com/contact/

That way, you're not just some writer on Goodreads, and I'm not just some editor.

If there are any questions, I can be reached at harrison@ambitiousenterprises.com.

And if you'd like to know more about me and my thoughts on the writing and editing processes, feel free to look through some of my recent guest blogs:
